Is that not a 5.1 at depth 6.5? Or was that what you were saying?

Talking about round we go

2011-09-04 21:44:21, -19.155, 168.696, 5.8, 59.4, Vanuatu

Was a 6.1. Now has to hang it's head in shame after being demoted.

Something interesting going on here and this may tie in to something going on not sure but wanted to call attention to it. The Gulf loop is disrupted currently...Not sure what it may mean.

It's a forecast model. Looks like a someone pulled/going to pull the plug on a drain. I took a look at the satellite and it showed a system moving the opposite direction. Did the Cuban quake open something up?

Oh stop it. You're starting to sound like a conspiracy theorist.

I saw the Cuba "6.0" come in on GEE on CU.SDDR, and to me that didn't look like a 6.0. More like a 5.6, if that. I expect it to get revised down some, or wouldn't be surprised. It seems there have been more revisions than usual in the last months to me. What about you, you get that sense?

Not far off TrueAmerican - Cuba's 6.0 has now been revised down to a 5.1

Yeah thanks Moorf! When I originally saw it my guess was 5.2, but it was entangled in S-waves from the 6.2 in Japan- so I wasn't sure. It skewed the signature a bit.

But I really have to ask: If an amateur like me is getting closer to the actual magnitude than a seismologist who has reviewed the data, wtf is going on up at the USGS? I mean think about it. With a 6.0 in a place like Cuba, that's much more cause for concern than the actual 5.1 that occurred. That "6.0" made news in many places. And now the USGS is going to have to tell them all it was only a 5.1? I mean that's nuts. :shk:

Dear Bob Smith:
I could use a job up there ya know. Even if it is on the nightshift with the rest of the noobs. But damn, that 6.0 wouldn't have been from my report, not after I reviewed it. Shoot, not after I just saw it, let alone reviewed it.

Gosh, when I got to the part about the "rivers overflowing".... I live in Memphis. We had the epic flood in April,

Just listen to it, everyone and read the lyrics
