I thought with this thread on would get a general opinion on the common person and what they would do with a vast amount of money if they recieved it.

Would you use it to assist others in your family and friends or hold what you have for yourself. You might want to live the high life in another country or sail the world.

Some people might create a business to support others in employment or some might donate the money to charitys which need the assistance. There are plenty of disabled and sick citizens who could use some help.

Would you bail out an economy which is struggling?

Your thoughts?

There is said to be a group called foundation X who will attempt to give money to the world economy to bail it out if another financial crisis arrives and world banks go under. Would you accept this if they were trying to support the system?

invest every single penny in strong sciences that will progress humanity towards my transhumanist agenda of course.
longevity research, nanotechnology, space habitation, virtual reality, etc etc etc...no simple gadgetmaking, but full fledged efforts to progress sciences that are barely simmering in funding.

Then once I own the monopoly of all the worlds breaking science and technology, and the human race becomes spacebound...open source it for any and all to forever have for free.

I'd keep it very, very quiet.

Foundation X was found out to be a hoax..it was a truck driver whom somehow convinced some random people he represented godlike sums of money
or something to that effect...but anyhow, ya..hoax. funny one at that considering he roped in a politician or two on it.

I would do what SaturnFX said. And once that is accomplished, disappear to somewhere far-far away for a little while.

It still has not been determined if your Foundation X is the 'lets call it foundation X' which Lord Blackheath was referring to.

That was a leap of logic made by conspiracy theorists - who immediately and without contacting anyone involved - decided that Foundation X (the rock band), was not as exciting as Foundation X (the scam), and for who 'lets call it foundation X' was just not good enough. So they chose the most interesting version of Foundation X available - even though Foundation X (the band) had a greater chance of being able to pay up that much gold than Foundation X (the trucker).

If you can post an example of Blackheath clarifying matters, that would be great.

How about that admission of laundering money for the IRA? Everyone ignored that one.

I would first assist and ensure financial stability within my close-family, then establish my own network of security (very nice new environmentally friendly vehicle) .. a motorcycle or two... and a beautiful home (not too big, not too small) with georgeous art... state of the art electronics... sound systems... all of the music/albums I've ever wanted... a few guitars (acoustics/electrics) ... gigantic 3d television...

Then i'd buy each of my best friends something relatively large they'd always wanted... (and family)

Then I'd sit on the rest... invest a lot of it for financial security... and start going to school absorbing a ridiculous amount of useful knowledge... sleep with beauitful women until I find the right one... and enjoy life without ANY financial worries...

I would try and make sure there is a minimum standard of living throughout the world. We do not need much to live, but we do need a little. Next I would look to social infrastructure for a minimum standard of national government. I would also take national resources out of private hands and put back into the public.

If there is any left over the though of a space drive for my motorbike is really cool.

Affirmations now: I am a money magnet.

Lets say it was 36 million dollars which I think went in the lotto recently. 6 million I'm sure will see me through. So that's 30 million for the community. I'm big on changing things at a local level hopefully then to be paid forward.

Then I would setup my base of operations and travel the world in style. My family would no longer have mortgages and their children would have college funds. Job done, bring on the cocktails.

Divide it up in equal amounts and directly give it all to those who have nothing... Not impressed by wealth and have no desire for wealth.. There are far more important things in life than money..

Provide security for myself and my family, and give the rest to people I knew who needed it.

Hell I could do that with a few thousand really...

I'd make sure my family and friends were financially secure. I'd donate to various charities, become a full-time student, travel the world, maybe fund a few political campaigns, fund some research.

Firstly, set up my family friends and myself with the main stuff. House, car, money put away so they never have to worry about it again.

Then i would do similar to the show secret millionaire, i would travel around the world and not let people know i have money and look for people / organisations etc that i think will have the greatest benefits to the greatest amount of people.

And i would dump a lot of money into alternative medicines, try and get people off prescription drugs! Have independent scientists look into major diseases and illness with natural remedies, and then (if successful) give the medicines and treatments out for free (If the drug companies dont try and stop me).

I would start with the poorest countries. Figure out what they would need to be self-sufficient, and supply them with whatever they needed. (build wells, water purification sites, etc.)
I'd help people with children pay off medical bills, and that are seriously in debt, with no possible way to pay it off in a lifetime.
I pretty much would try to help others in any way I could, the only thing I'd want out of it would be a Blue '72 SS Chevelle (with the white racing stripes
)
