OK earlier today i visited google to do a search and the homepage had changed, it now goes by the name of 'the search'. it says at the bottom...

'This site uses Google Technology. This site is not Offical Google Web Site.'

But it has the same domain as the actual google UK site that i have been using for ages.

HERE is the link.

Is it just something simple i missed or am i going nuts?

Mine works fine, though I have noticed I can only access .co.uk now. No idea when that changed, used to be able to use either .com/.co.uk. Not that it matters much. Strange with regards your issue though- can you post a screenshot?

I live here in Iowa and my google is the same as it's always been. Don't know what could be going on with yours. I'm not computer savvy so no help here, I'm afraid.

It sounds like you have a virus of some sort which redirects your results away from google in order to show you their advertisements and otherwise make money from you.

Have a read here. Be sure to read the comments on that page too, some good advice there.

Also, use a spyware program such as Spybot - Search and Destroy and an anti-virus such as Comodo or AVG if you don't already.

Your computer is not protected, your screenshot shows that.

You need to fix that before you can get rid of this bug.

I only have limited knowledge here, but the virus intercepts your web traffic, fooling your computer into believing that you are in fact accessing Goole.co.uk, even though you clearly aren't. Therefore your browsers address bar will still display the address you originally requested.

Anyone clicking that link could get infected.

Also you should consider deleting that link from this thread.

I had a problem with ASK taking over my browser search. I just had to uninstall the tool bar and voila... no more ask!
