Or in other words...personal belief. But not mine. This topic is being swamped with frankly a religious fervor which sees any object in the sky as proof of alien visitation. I'd like to say belief is fine but really it is not. Belief is ignorant. It assumes. It belongs to personal opinion. I would be very delighted to hear of a genuine alien visitation but please, ATS posters, stop with the ignorant assumptions. Life on this planet is full of psychological results. Some true some not. Unless there is proof of lain visitation there is none. Personal testimony is not proof. Despite what u may think. Those who will debunk me then please exhibit your evidence, because I would love to see it. Please, show us all, those who dont dive into belief but look for proof, show us wrong, because it would be the best day of any of our lives.

Agreed, it is retarded to state they do not exist. That is an absoluteist position backed by nothing.

However, "I do not believe" simply means, there has not been enough valid evidence presented to me to believe they are coming here. That is sensible..

and ops. I keel you for the thread title!

belief is a tricky thing, indeed, but it certainly is not a form of ignorance.

in fact, it is our beliefs that shape our reality.

even science, in its 'proof' thirsty doctrine is a system of beliefs.

it is experience that shapes our beliefs. so for those who have experienced the paranormal, it is of course difficult to convince us we are 'nuts' or 'delusional' etc. in fact, it's rather rude to say such things.

however, on the flip side of this coin, fevered belief without a healthy dose of questioning is also problematic.

belief is necessary and valid. questioning is necessary and valid. too often (especially here on ATS) folks seem to plant both feet and a flag firmly in one camp or the other, and readily dismiss the other.

but how can we expand our knowledge if we shut out the beliefs of others.

as i said, belief is a tricky thing.

This question has been done to death here on ATS!

And what's with the sensationalist and misleading thread title?

It's retarded is unpleasant and in another decade. Besides that you show no evidence. No surprise. Do you get what I mean by belief? Looking for evidence. Longing to see it.

There's not 100% proof of human life yet!

Mythos you have valid points. Examining and questioning anything is good.

ugh did i miss something, a rant about the aliens threads using an even worse thread? ats is for discussion of alternative subjects, many of which have little or no evidence.

I think that it's a matter of ego. Some are just too center focus to see whats around themselves. I'm not saying focus is wrong either. Look at the world today and see the fruits of modern day focus. I like my car. But I know I'd be more in tune with the earth if I had to walk. My ego says I don't want to. See?

We have a no Comprehension of why or what we are here for yet we strive to answer the questions of the universe, all I was saying is that what/who/why are humans! Sorry just answering a "HUH"

Graci.

i have had the fortune/misfortune to have led an interesting life, with paranormal experiences peppered though out. i have run these experiences through a gauntlet of examination, attempting to understand them and put them in a proper context. and some, upon retrospection, are indeed deduced to more conventional explanations (too much psylocibins that summer
)

but others remain what they were from the start: a glimpse into the mystery of possibilities.

no scrutiny of logic could diminish these raw experiences. why should i let it?

even if i am tricking myself, i would prefer to leave a little space for the ghosts and faeries and aliens and monsters that lurk under our beds. what a dull world it would be without them.

well maybe you could try explaining it to me. from what i understand, you want people to stop saying they beleive in aliens. without hard evidence were not living in reality?

True, u are not. It gets a bit dull awaiting evidence

Actually, there are plenty of humans, but there's a terrible lack of intelligence. Still, they make for good breeding stock and work well when misinformed and led properly. Of course there are aliens. They come here for safari and to stir up the natives, so to speak. Once in a while, when the population gets to a pre-determined density, there comes a handy culling. With knowledgeable pruning of the population, this simian growth rate can maintain another entire planetary system's dietary needs for eons to come.

there is plenty of evidence out there. i mean thousands of pieces to a puzzle we haven't yet scratched the surface to understand, and 'aliens' certainly isn't the most implausible solution to many of these countless mysteries this world has so far revealed.

but a naysayer who will not admit: "hmmm... this is interesting," when stumbling upon an arcane bit of cryptozoology, or native folklore, or ancient archeology, or quantum physics is, well, a naysayer.

it is much easier to say "i don't believe it!" then to do the research and be open to the possibilities.

just search ATS threads- there are hundreds of excellent posts asking questions to which there are no 100% logical explanations to.
