Mars, the 4th planet from our sun, 6th from the outer edges of our solar system before pluto was taken out of the roster.
Moon, been there, done that, or so they say.
Mars, well it's a different story.Nobody claims they've been there and done it.
And I mean human exploration, landing and frolicking.
well those who claimed they did where considered, a nut case.
1975 was a year that Nasa was abuzzed with an enigmatic image of a face on Mars.
trick of lights? the sun's coincidental angles, perspectives and soo many technical jargons only to come up with a very simple explanation,"pareidolia".
2008 was different.
We saw a waving humanoid in the internet!
The image was clear, impeccable, sourced from nasa itself.
But there's a catch.
the image is minute in scale.
smaller than a dwarf or hobbit we humans perceived in our brains as "small".
Could have been a blockbuster for a PT Barnum Circus ring. But who can say?
We have been fed with thousands of images from Mars by nonetheless, NASA.
Problem with these images is that its got a salient tagged: it's "here's what we got, take it or leave it".
But that is on the first glance. There's really more to it.
And I am advancing a case study# 1: Mars' Bonestell Crater as a start of a research that would help us to determine in an empirical way whether there is a civilisation in Mars comparable to us or much ahead of us.
I would present some imagery for our fellow ats members to scrutinize and Bonestell Crater is one such place to start.
There is nothing to debunk here. What we need are data to validate what we thought...that we are not alone in this vast universe...

Welcome to Bonestell Crater - A view from the sky

and here's a view from the south side...

I'll call the "pareidolia"image on the top of the screen "the young one" and the one in the lower middle as "old mcdonald"

im posting this to start the ball rolling...there's more and its going to be really interesting...

You know, this one word in the title of your thread tells just about everything anyone needs to know:

Pareidolia.....

is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon or the Moon rabbit, and hearing hidden messages on records played in reverse.

The word comes from the Greek para- – "beside", "with", or "alongside"—meaning, in this context, something faulty or wrong (as in paraphasia, disordered speech) and eidōlon – "image"; the diminutive of eidos – "image", "form", "shape". Pareidolia is a type of apophenia.

I can see the Pareidolia you're trying to point out as in the two faces, I don't quite understand how this is supposed to validate that we are not alone in the universe though?

hi weedwacker
i knew i'll cross your path in this thread. in fact it was your mention of "pareidolia" in the other threads that inspired me to start this thread.
i want to start a real research on how to deal with these "pareidolic" images on mars.
and i guess we owe humanity, humans, our civilization , to really understand who we are and this initiative could be a step to help us?

I'm confused by this post. Are you saying pareidolia isn't psychological, and that it's actually a phenomena being pointed out to us by something/someone/somewhere?

The resemblance is uncanny.

No it is not psychological. It's the way it was handed to us that we thought we are only seeing things.
