I am a fairly avid sports fan .. Mets, Suns and mostly... the STEELERS... recently I was posting in a forum about the possibility of the New England
Patriots cheating their way to the record and streak they are on now ... (15 home game wins in a ROW... and they are BLOWING OUT every team they play
((excluding a loss to the Browns a few weeks back ...not an AFC threat ..ok to blow that one)) )
If you aren't familiar with the term SPYGATE ..a quick synopsis is this: The Patriots were BUSTED video taping other teams' defensive signals
(offensive most likely also) ..and had been doing so for some years... years that have coincided with their domination that started right around the
FIRST GULF WAR (more on this in a sec). Many teams, including my favorite Steelers, reported that during some losses to the Patriots, that the team
from New England seemed to somehow KNOW what play was going to be called ..right before the ball was snapped... even reporting that they would
actually say the name of the play (that they are NOT supposed to know) to other teammates ..right at the line of scrimmage.
Up until their first Super Bowl ..they had been perrenial also-rans that barely broke .500 year after year ..(I enjoyed watching Plunkett wayyyy
back)
Steve Young, an NFL analyst, recently commented that he was aware of a tactic that Bill Bellicheck, the Patriots coach, had suggested to his team in
the past, being this: (paraphrasing) "The refs aren't going to call holding on every play, especially a playoff game, so go ahead and hold (cheat) on
EVERY play ..and try to jam up their recievers for the whole game." (I recall this happening to the Steelers in a past playoff game vs. the
Patriots)
In my opinion, Steve Young was trying to tell us that Bill Bellicheck and the Patriots had been cheating alot... for a long time. He is probably close
to this kind of information and, perhaps to counter the many reports and league wide gushing about Bill Bellicheck being the "all time greatest coach
in NFL history" and how he is such a "genious" ... he veiled a direct statement like "this guy is a stone cold cheater" with an aside about the
holding.
Now ... the character of someone who would tell his team to "hold on every play" ..and would video-tape other teams signals as to know plays called in
advance (I'm NOT saying the Patriots were the only ones..) begs me to ask ... would he not use OTHER surveilliance techniques if they were available
to him?
Obviously, this is someone who can SOMEHOW relish a win that comes by way of ill gotten gains. How? I don't know. It's not something I could/would
ever be able to do ... but from what I have posted so far ..it would seem this is a "win at all costs" personality that will do ANYTHING, in or
outside the rules, in order to win.
If you are familiar with Mr. Bellicheck you know that he is not an outgoing, upbeat person. He has a sense of humor, but, one could ask by his
demeanor, is he happy even when he wins? continued
