So reflective coating would work only against low power lasers, with enough power it's just like shooting it with "solid projectile".

And BTW, that effect is called radiation pressure.

I'll bet twenty bucks that Russia or China will start work on there own missle defense system.

Well I will bet that they will only have twenty bucks to put toward their shields and they can never keep up with the US remember what happened to the USSR same thing will happen to china and present day Russia

A missile defense system to protect against a major attack (as the US or Russia could provide) is not practical by any current standard. Our current missile defense program won't affect the Russian warplan in the least. They certainly couldn't afford to build a system to protect against a large US attack.

However China is a different story. The first stage of the US system is designed to protect against a rogue state with a very small number of primitive ICBM's/IRBM's (i.e. North Korea). The next stage would be to counter a possible Chinese attack of

Boycott Chinnese goods and watch thier economy collapse. At least enough to not be able to afford expensive military toys.

In as far as defending an attack from China, I think they would just ramp up ICBM's and try to keep ahead of the number or interceptors.

The laser is only part of the Boost Phase Intercept of the Missle Defense System. If it is not able to be killed in the boost phase, missles must handle it in the midcourse and terminal phase(few lasers in terminal). But lasers cannot handle the midcourse phase due to the distances involved, the laser loses energy.

That is defiantly true lasers can kill a missile in boost stage Uncle Sam has 4thought of everything check out the Lasers on the Boeing 747 it has a range of 200miles and they will be flying near countries with nukes so yes lasers can shoot missiles down on boost stage

Well the system could hit a missle at any stage if we stuck lasers in space. China could pose a threat until we make improvements in the system. What if an ally suddenly launches an ICBM with out warning. Would we automatically intercept it?

Well im not sure how ready we are now cuz our shield is in its beginning stages once it is completed we will have lasers in space cuz it's in the Air force's weapons proposal about space and to all of the anti-Americans out there are treaties against putting weapons in space like nukes and so one but these are lasers its a defense measure not offensive and the treaty does not mention lasers.

Won't the Boeing be already shoot down, if it is only 200 miles off the country has the ICBM?

Well if the country is going to shoot ICBM's at you they won't hesitate to shoot down one of your aircraft. Even if its outside there territory.

A ballistic missle traveling at 15,000 mph can close the 200 mile gap in 48 seconds, so the ABL is not failsafe, as are all systems. We are just playing the cards. I still advocate for the ABL, but it cannot replace missle interceptors. Interceptors must be used in concert with the THEL and ABL.

15.000 mph are you sure that is around mach-25 last I heard ICBM's could only do 15 mach and the laser takes 3-4 sec to burn through the missile and the 747 will not be just out there by itself it will be with other fighters such as the raptor which can shoot down cruise and sam missiles also the raptor has a firing range of about 200 miles so it wont leave the 747 alone

The U.S. missle defence sucks. It cant compare to the Russian missle defence. Russia has an advanced missle defence system, and has had it for years. They build missles that can counter any ohter missle defence types too.
