How do you upload an avatar?

I've been on the internet since 1993 and consider myself to be pretty technologically savvy. And I've never been so confused about how to upload an avatar. When I click on "Upload Avatar," I'm brought to my "Media" section. And once there, I don't see ANYTHING about the avatar.

Is there already a thread on this topic? Even if there is, maybe a redesign where when we click on "Upload Avatar," it actually takes us to the exact spot in the media section for this task.

Uploading an avvy on this site is harder than algebra.

They really should simplify the process.

I went to that link. And it won't even let me view it because my family filter is on. I went to make sure it's NOT on, and it still won't let me view it.

And the FIRST THING he says is go to the top and click on "Mem Center" and guess what? The button isn't there. In fact, here's a screen shot of my top of page I just took...

The problem is, I DO know all of the graphics stuff... been doing it for 17 years. I just want to upload my avatar.

The designs were just changed. Just use the link in my last post of this thread, and upload your image.

Thanks. I got it. From your link I just uploaded the pic, then changed the choice under the tumbnail to "Set as avatar." Now let me see if it worked. (After posting this)

Edit #2- Got it. I had to click on the picture in the album, copy the ats url of the jpg, go to the other area and paste the url in. (Edward goes to kitchen to fetch an alcoholic beverage )

My problem has been more of making the pic/avatar actually fit.
Whenever I upload a picture, it's wayy too big for the space and shows up all funky looking or only part of it shows up.

On the media, thingy page, it says "Sorry, Signups have been disabled. Please check back later!"

Do I need to do something with my computer or is it something with the site?

Thanks everyone. I actually came here to post a "Duzy." We just had an EXTREMELY RARE Angel Hair event in my back yard a week ago. Due to the pictures I took and the samples I took, it will likely be the "Best Documented" Angel Hair event in Fringe History. It will appear on rense.com as soon as James updates the headlines... either this update or the one after.

I just have to make 15 more posts before I can start the thread in UFOs/Aliens.
