Whats just happened with ATS and WIkleaks..?

Ok peeps just a question and observation. For the past week i have been trying real hard to help get some real or postive inforamtion regarding WL to the front page of ATS. I tried and I failed.
I was dinheartened to see so much smear being throwing around and a disabaility to use facts to discuss things..
Now he got arrested yester and I wnet to sleep last night and now the front page of ATS is covered with Poistve or infomormation based threads on WL .........
I mean WTH !.. All the time he was a free man there were just sillly posts getting flagged up and now he has been arrested tis all changed.
I can think of two reasons maybe theres more..

1: he has just matyed himself and so changed peeps opinion.

2 There were groups of peeps delibratly colluding together..

Now there is prob a third option...that i cant see

Get over it man. It is now the flavour of the moment. You were just premature & lost your ..... well chance to flog your point lol. There is old saying "Get on the Bandwagon" now is your chance! What is with the "Peeps" stuff are you 15-20 years old? Sounds like mobile phone SMS talk! Anyway start posting/debating it's your turn. Good luck

Aye, I think this is the natural flow of information. With the limited information everyone has had, many variables were being puked out. Now that the situation has reached the next step, people are naturally going to start backing him - because there is now seemingly a line being drawn on the situation. Tomorrow, new speculations will occur, balancing out what right now looks to be a bit of a flip flop. It really is fun to watch.

Maybe cause the aim of your posts are to get stars and flags, that's why you haven't got one on the front page..
Find something different to what others are posting, start a decent discussion, which gets people talking.. And hey presto your dreams of being front page of ats might come true..
I think aswell, people are getting fed up with the wiki leaks stuff all the posts are saying the same things, you need to come up with something new instead of the same old drivel...

Nah...what you gotta understand is that some of the moderators (not all, mind you) are in collusion with certain posters to "corner the market" on front page posts.

Despite the claims of objectivity, some of those who post here and "moderate" here are clearly acting in a non-objective fashion in putting things on the front page, and in deleting certain others' posts.

Now, what's going to happen next is that somebody's gonna come up and say "If you don't have proof, your point is invalid." To that, I say go find your own proof.

It's the way the world works.

Oh please it's nothing. It's the latest trend to talk about so of course it will be on the main page and board. All anyone seems to care about IS this wikileaks stuff and Assange.

I agree. This is just one of the childish games certain agenda driven people on this site play to control information and spread utter nonsense. All in the name of denying ignorance, of course.

I am no grammar nazi, though i do cringe privately often while reading ATS. Small mistakes happen, we all do it. Having Firefox reduces it some by highlighting misspelled words.

But that is completely irrelevant. What i am telling you is that your threads may tend to do better if your diction improves. ATS is kind of stuffy like that. You are taken more seriously when you use full spellings (not txt abbreviations like "prob" for "probably"), and when you give a quick proof read of the OP.

The OP is the most critical. If you want your thread to get any attention you need to have a decently composed OP, including some personal insight that is worthy of discussion. Just throwing up headlines, with a few comments that only provide commentary on that headline, isn't going to get your thread noticed.

I need to explain something that I read on occasion.

The moderators on ATS not being non-objective and stuff...

I understand that the ATS moderators are not judges, what they do is monitor the site and implement certain rules and the punishment that goes with it. The rules are of course the terms & conditions you signed to agree on when you became a member.
But first of all every moderator is an ATS member with their own ideas, thoughts and so on.
This means that they will never be non objective. They are ( just like you ) entitled to do what they think is right.

The only thing is that it has got to be within T&C guidelines. If they cross the line they will also be at risk of getting banned even. Just like you. A decision that is not taken by only one moderator by the way. Stuff like that gets discussed first, among them of course, not us.

The only thing that is special is that a mod has proven, while being a member, worthy to be a mod. That's all
+ it looks like they have often invested just a little extra to the site then others.

Always remember. Mods are not Gods.

This attitude will greatly improve contact with staff as fellow member instead of judge an Jury kind of way.
Witch is good in my opinion.

hey. Just to say i use firefox and it does not spell check for me... it is the latest version too.. Like to add that i do my best not shorten words but im sorry i do a lot of typing on the net and i find it hard sometimes not to. As for my spelling and stuff i am dylesix and i do proof read, evidently it does not always work that well. As long as people can understand wat i am saying that is the main thing...
As for spending more time puttting stuff in some of my posts, you have a far point there. Like most peep we have limited time to work on stuff. To me the infomration i was sharing was more important..
I will however try and spend a little more time on my thread,

I believe you need a plug in or add on to be able to use a spell check on FF.
I use Opera

Everything on opera is build in and easy to use
