Searching for Truth???

Where does one start?

Is it even possible?

Is there hope?

I realize that the absolute truth will always be obscure......

I realize that the starting point will ultimately end up lacking an absolute and unacceptable ending....

Yet I still believe in the possibilities of finding true happiness.

Am I wrong for hoping for the best?????

We as humans are incapable of fully understanding the truth. As Kant stated in the 19th century, there is one absolute truth that all people see differently. The senses are deceiving making empiricism difficult while the truth can only be attained through rationalization.

I completely understand that most of us will never find the real truth...I suppose I'm just sort of wondering how in this world do any of accept that and yet still continue on existing with any sort of purpose.

Is it still a crime on the forums to say that God is the answer?

For that matter...do we even need a purpose?

All of my thought processes just come back to the same beginnings....

What is our purpose?

Whether it be as one or, whether it be as a whole ...Why are we all here?

This is a story from one of my favorite books of all time, Tuesdays With Morrie:

There once was a little wave, bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He's enjoying the wind and the fresh air-until he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore. "My God, this is terrible," the wave says. "Look what's going to happen to me!"

Then along comes another wave. It sees the first wave, looking grim, and it says to him, "Why do you look so sad?"

The first wave says, "You don't understand! We're all going to crash! All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn't it terrible?"

The second wave says, "No, you don't understand. You're not a wave, you're part of the ocean."

Maybe that will help ease your mind

Interestingly enough the vast majority of people start externally, and in the end some of those find what they were looking for inside themselves. The remainder stay lost in the Mystery and blah blah of all the offered Belief-Systems.

I seriously think, due to 35 years seeking and experiencing outside the Boxes of Belief-Systems, that the simplest place to start is within yourself.. thus not wasting years and years in a search that might lead you to there anyway.

Inside you is the spark of Light we can call Life.. the Aware portion of Soul that is You. And so to insure we gain clear perspective it is there that we should begin.. with the Knower Within, the real Teacher.

Link to my website in the sig below for anyone interested int he simplified methods I used and have been teaching for over 12 years now to good success.

Truth does not have to be obscure. We are Indoctrinated into Believing this is so, when the reality is that once we move beyond this Indoctrinatoin we find a far bigger and more coherent picture than we could have imagined.

It is what we believe, what concepts we hold dear as truths that are the very things which Block us from experiencing what exists outside their natural and limited boundaries. Hence, dump all Belief, all concepts, all thinking this should be so or can't be so.. and start with a fresh place to pbserve from.

Everyday needs to have some hope, even if it is the same hope each and every day.

Be well.

Where is the Truth in God? Where is the proof?

It's certainly not a crime to claim God as truth but, is there really any concrete proof that God exists?

I have been looking "within" for 15 + years....I have faith in what is "unknown"...I believe everything will find it's place in given time.....

From time to time though...It's really hard to place faith and belief on things that seem more obscure to me now, than they ever have in my life.

Sometimes I think that I really do think TOO much.

How does one go about shutting off their brain?

Anyone?????

Logical reasoning would seem to say we are born to live and die.

When we are born and take our first breath outside our mothers womb we begin to live.

Would we be born and if we weren't supposed to live?

When our life is over and we take our last breath we die.

It is what we do with our lives between life and death that gives us either joy or despair.

If we have no purpose, then are we not just a waste of space?

I get what you are saying....100%.

Maybe I was just looking for some sort of fluffy, sugar coated response to make me feel better before I tried to get some sleep. Your post certainly didnt help by the way! But, I appreciate your response.

You ask where should you start looking for the truth: Within yourself

You say you have already done that for 15+yrs: What were you looking for? Maybe you looked passed it, maybe you already found it but did not reckonize it.

You ask how can you shut off your thoughts: Stop thinking. Stop thinking about stopping thinking. Just be. Right now.

Some of my previous posts might interest you, check them out if you have time.

Take it easy.

Many personal "truths" have fallen in my lap since I began my 'journey'..I think at times though, I am my own worst enemy in that, I question even myself!!!!!

I do feel the truth within ME but, I also question MYSELF!!!!! And rightly so as far as I'm concerned.

Does this make sense to anyone????

It is such a double edged sword!

Yes that makes sense to me. Some say doubt is the worst fault of man, and this may be true, but until man has omniscient wisdom and knowledge, doubt will forever be. To be completely convinced, without a shadow of a doubt, takes a level of arrogance and denial that negates real intelligence. Every super intelligent human, genius, has doubted everything they've known at one time or another, and may have died doing so. So I guess the key is to become comfortable with that fact, that you will never know it all, but still be able to continue questioning.

That is my Point!

There will always be doubt b/c

NO ONE IS ALL KNOWING.

We are all like children....learning....trying to understand....trying to make sense....trying to find ....

OUR OWN TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

This may sound strange.. so here goes...

Don't have Faith. Don't have Belief. Only have Experience, which you can talk about with others, and, don't build new Beliefs based on the experiences. The first two are blocks to the higher reality because they are concepts with built in limitations. So you don't need them.

Looking inside isn't easy because you don't know what to look for. So a teacher.. lower case "t"... will show you what it is and how to find it easily. If not then they are a Teacher.... which you can pick in a crowd for their speak, ways and dress.

Thinking is okay. Life requires some thought input from us in each moment, but the trick is being Master of Yourself, in control of your thoughts, Intents, Words, Choices and Actions. Starting with thoughts, you will notice that some thoughts produce fear reactions and other thoughts don't. Learn not to react to either type.

Next, you don't need to spend years and effort learning how to quiet the mind, you simply choose what you will think about, then Focus on that. Bring the mind back to Your Intent every time it wanders.

That's what being in the Now is about.. Mastery of the Self, being in the flow of energy and aware of it.

Look around you, and within. The creation of the world, with you in it, is a triumph of persuasion over force. We have all the evidence we need, and then there is awareness of a relationship with a loving power greater than ourselves, who many cannot find until they are in desperate need of support, but the support is there, and there's lots of evidence to be had in that regard also. Of course we cannot understand or quantify God, only get present to the presence. Be still and know that God is God.
