To investigate what the bacteria is made out of isn't a simple exercise. Imagine the amount of skill the people you hired would have to be, and the equipment you would need to even see the bacteria, let alone test it's DNA.

This is the size of the DNA they are testing.

On the left is a grain of salt, 1000UM. On the right is the bacteria, less than 5UM. And they are testing this bacteria. Imagine how delicate the procedure would be..

And it's not my opinion it's pure fact.

We already knew that there was bacteria in the arsenic, what they have discovered is their DNA is actually based on the arsenic. And this isn't a waste of billions of dollars, because now scientists are looking for life where they never thought possible.
