Japan, US to conduct biggest ever military drill

Around 34,000 Japanese military personel with 40 warships and 250 aircraft will join more than 10,000 US counterparts with 20 warships and 150 aircraft in the drill in Japanese waters off its southern islands, close to the southern coast of South Korea.

This is a huge drill and sends a major statement to the North Koreans!! The article also says that South Korean military officers will be observing the drills..This huge people, there is allot of developments that are pointing to war in this region, I hope and pray that is does not happen,there would be countless innocent lives lost..

I thought their entire military consists of 14 guys with guns, a converted crop duster, and a pimped out toyota with some armor on the side...

aka, the japanese military is tiny...strictly self defense tiny since the end of WW2

China doesn't own us, unlike you. They could use the Midwest as a testing range to repay the $13 Trillion you owe them.

So if you had to pick which thing you were going to destroy...

Would it be something that you 'owned' or something you didn't?

Japan is allowed to have a "limited" navy and military after the surrender in WW2. knowing how they are now, as one of our stronger allies, I would like to see that lifted so we don’t have to have so many of are own troops and equipment over there to protect them.

glad to see we can join with our allies and practice real life war games so we can always be ready for the un known.

I’m not advocating war, just happy we are showing our might to NK. Peace through strength and numbers.

Wait, if loaning money equals ownership then doesn't the U.S. own your country, by your own reasoning? I mean we did just bail you guys out. So if China owns us, we own you, and therefore China owns you as well. Right? I'm just using your logic.

That's not enough to be considered war. When I was in the Army we had war games with 30,000+ people and assets (tanks, etc). When I was stationed in Japan we didn't have them that big because we don't have a whole lotta' troops there, but we still had joint exercises.

It makes sense to have a larger drill over there. Blow the cobwebs and dust out of everything and make sure it's all running very, very well. Considering how unstable North Korea is ... the exercise is long overdue. Considering what the wikileaks documents say, China isn't too thrilled with North Korea and probably secretly don't mind us all flexing our muscles to help keep N. Korea in check.

Well I hate to say it but he/she has every right to say what they want to about us and our military as well as our country. However, luckily a thought as selfish as his/hers can only be returned with the same amount of malice and hate through natural laws. So lets smile and wish the best for all of us. It's all we can do.

I don't know where you get the idea that you bailed the UK out, since we have not received IMF or any loans. You can scrap that idea right there.

Really? So we never bailed out Barclays, or any other EU companies? You do live in a country that is part of the EU, so essentially we did indeed bail you out. We could have let your banking system fail.

I am glad you don't represent the majority in your country.
