NASA Sets News Conference on Astrobiology Discovery

www.nasa.gov

WASHINGTON -- NASA will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 2, to discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.

Some pretty big, and important findings will be revealed. The findings will impact the search for evidence of ET Life, but I wonder how big of an impact it will be.

Im very eager to see what will be presented at this conference. The conference will be streamed live at www.nasa.gov, and also will be broadcasted live on NASA's Television Channel.

I'll be tuning in, in hopes for something major. Hopefully.

My guess..they're going to say they "may have" found.."good chance" "possibly".."microscopic".."maybe"..but..can't say I'm not hoping for a real schocker!

my guess is this was anounced today
link to crustal life artical

The first study to ever explore biological activity in the deepest layer of ocean crust has found bacteria with a remarkable range of capabilities, including eating hydrocarbons and natural gas, and "fixing" or storing carbon.

so life can live almost any where and live on almost anything

my guess anywho

They made me curious.

Nobody has used the "D" word yet? OK, I'll say it, will this be disclosure?

if it's conditioning I'm all for it, if it helps us get closer to the truth.
we could use a solid little piece of off world life. even if it's microbial.

Grr, beat me to it!

Can't wait to see what they say about this!

Fingers crossed...yet again. All I want is some sort of bacteria or microbe or anything. Is that too much to ask?

It's going to be the same old NASA story tho..."We have possibly found something that may be conducive to life maybe."

Oh well...baby steps right?

Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for disclosure for years. Maybe this time. With the recent buzz about martian microbes. I just hope it goes further than that. I'll settle for the worm

Thanks for everyone's response.

Yep, another one where we keep our finger's crossed. The conference is not to far away, and time flys, so we'll be getting the info soon.

Doesn't this have to do with finding oxygen or something on one of Saturn's moons? So probably no aliens.

There is already a thread on this if you looked at the recent posts.

The good news... We are not alone in the Universe...

The Bad news - The Aliens are building a galactic superhighway, Earth is in the way of construction, and ET is invoking emminent domain.

Humor aside this is another step in the right direction. The World is in a bad place right now, with death and destruction everywhere. Maybe we hit the tipping point where humankind needs to be told that we are not alone, if its its microbes, to get it across to each other we are in this together.

Heres hoping ET joins Nasa at the news conference.

After thought -
I wonder if this might have anything to do with the "Insurance Policy" wikileaks has referred to in the past.

I dont think so. The info about the oxygen has already been released to the public and media. The fact Science Journal has had the story embargoed by NASA tells me its something else.

Based on personal experience when dealing with the media an embargoed story usually means it will have an impact. Its usually done to give time to prep the news conference to ensure all info is checked and verified before the release so avoid any possibility of miscommunication or reporting of facts that are not accurate or taken out of context.

Not saying this is why it is being done this way, but one possibility anyways.

Even a confirmed announcement of microbial life will have implications.

It's really exciting what they will have to say about this Thursday!!

I think something about microbial life, or some finding that actually says that the possibilities for alien life are endless.

Fingers crossed for something bigger though!

I suspect maybe it's something small that will guide us to full disclosure of Alien life. Baby steps!
