I was informed yesterday that a friend of mine is going to IRAQ. Yet we hear no news from or about Iraq anymore. The number of current troops operating in Iraq is purported to be at 50,000 total. So why has the MSM and our government lied to us so outright? I would like to see the new casualty reports and the actual total troop count still there.

I am SO tired of being lied to by politicians just to further their gain.

I agree with you 100%. My brother has been in and out of Iraq since 2005. During the times he was not in Iraq he was in Congo.

Iraq->Congo->Iraq etc for the last 5 years.

Who lied out right?

What was said was that all combat missions would cease and the majority of troops would come home or be diverted to the Afgahn war. Those staying behind are support only and stay behind the wire.

Thats exactly whats happening.

Last soldier killed in Iraq was in August of this year right before the combat missions ended.

Troop count as of this month is 48,000 troops in Iraq.

You know you can google this info right?

That article is from May and a little out of date.

Last I saw the total troop level including foregin troops was around 430,000. We are contributing around 85,000.

So you think that what you find on google is unadulterated news and numbers? It has been proven several times that the search results from google are factual to some degree but incomplete most of the time. The guy that is going to Iraq is going for convoy escort. He is to be a gunner on a humvee. That is not "behind the wire" work. I would like to know some unadulterated facts as to what is going on over there now.

I'm in Iraq now at a very small JSS (Joint Security Site). Not much is going on. Alot of training and mentoring to the Iraqi troops is whats mostly happening. It's mostly STT's (Support and Training Teams) here now. Most convoys are done at night IAW the security agreement from last year.

Things have toned down quite a bit. To be honest alot of troops have complained of boredom. The Spec ops guys still have some things going on of course. But with the regular troops mostly it's "Advise and Assist" now. Some things still happen from time to time, but it's normally directed at Iraqi forces.
