I don't care what anyone says. That is the coolest thing i've seen in a long time. People over here need to start some crap like that. It will take something drastic like that, we're at a point where 'peaceful protests' are not going to get the job done. I'm not talking about hurting people, but TPTB definetly need a proverbial swift kick in the a**.

ETA: and it's not on American news because they don't want us getting any wild ideas from that

Lots of students i know have jobs, they have to to survive, if kids dropped out of college to protest, i tcertainly wouldnt be the upper class or middle class ones, it would be the working class kids who would suffer because im not sure there would be enough of them to make a difference. The best way to get into uni(unless your a genuis) is to have rich parents, Further education in the uk is increasingly becoming a luxury of the rich.
Cmon Davespanners help me out her.

yeah, I talked to a recent engineering grad - very smart boy...but TOTALLY GLOBALIST.

So I asked him: If your globalist approach is so good, why did you leave the EU to come here to get your education and make your life..?
Why not stay there where it is supposedly the way of the future?
We were watching the financial news on TV at the time regarding the eu...he was stumped.
I pointed out good ol fashioned Canada has no failed banks...

I think that achedemics NEED to be rained in they do not deserve the iron clad pay and pensions they get.
because the cost does prevent the average person from access...But that increases the value of the education the rich paid for, which is why they DON"T want the average person to get that education.

They act like this because they are not organized. If they were organized we will not be here writing about it, because the PTB would be US.

I've said this in a couple of threads but. I really don't see a problem with the aggressive nature of the protests. You can bet your life that if double the number of people had turned up and went about waving signs and giving out leaflets not a single person would have cared and certainly no one in the US would have heard about it.

Breaking a few windows and painting a police van is small fry compared to taking away access to higher education for poor people for generations to come.

Rely on Social Security to retire? Letting government dictate to you when you retire? Government can raise the retirement age to 99....doesn't matter to me....I'm planning on retiring around 55....comfortably. That gives me a 10-15 year head start on spending more time with friends and family.

Exactly my point Russo, random smashing of pointless stuff just gets ordinary Joes back up, which is why I see these people as agents provoc
There are better & bigger targets. I would do things very differently (& may well do yet!) but I ain't telling

No you misunderstand me, this isnt reported in a good way, in fact i was watching the news this morning, and they said that many of the protesters will be likely ever to find a job now that their 'on record'. Its a heap of S**t.

Yes on the whole the UK media has either gone with... "their just lazy students looking for free money" angle or "It's just a few bad guys causing the violence"

It seems impossible for them to believe that a group of young people could have a genuine reason for being angry about a political decision

I am speaking hypothetically, but by the time we reach 55 our kids will be grown, friends and family passed on, and almost an entire life wasted working to achieve material wealth. Seems like a waste to pass up such important things in life all in the name of wealth or run-amok capitalism.

If people protest over such things, including college tuition costs, we should listen and not belittle their beliefs.

Dave, I went on the original big protest march against the poll tax ALL THOSE YEARS AGO, it wasnt pretty, but people felt strongly against it. NIcely nicely protest doesnt work any more, at least these kids arent at home just watching x factor. Incidentally i heard it was mostly organised over twitface, wow the power of the internet eh.

The MSM isn't talking about this because TPTB who own and run the MSM along with the various unions that represent the MSM are sympathetic to the demonstrators over there, however, Glenn Beck has been talking about this for almost a year. Now say what you want about him, but he is dead on in regards to these riots happening in Europe. He predicted this long before it happened. In a nutshell, the British Government is damn near bankrupt, mainly because of an out of control government run health care system, and numerous other socialist entitlement programs. Because of the dire financial situation the government had to raise tuition rates at colleges as well as the retirement age, and the students and others started rioting, and it is all being orchestrated by the labor unions, who are communists. This is all heading our way soon.

Now there were some protests that did actually achieve something... helping to bring down Thatcher for one!!
Well done

Conversely I went on a lot of anti war protests that were all very peaceful, well organized and didn't achieve a damn thing

"at least these kids arent at home just watching x factor"

OK, fair point... on three....two...one.... start smashing!

Seriously though, students are surely more organised & networked than this & can make a bigger splash than a few broken windows? Surely??

If you make a peaceful protest with signs and shouts. MSN will not hear you.

If you make a violent protest, breaking things and facing the police. MSN will blame you, but will not hear you.

The biggest problem is the mass media. While they were controlled, we will lose every battle. We must have a free press/midia.
