I'm sorry how could you say that? Do you know how many millions of innocent people would die if nuke were used? North Korea might have a crazy regime, but let's not punish the people.

Foreign secretary William Hague says the UK 'strongly condemns North Korea's unprovoked attack on South Korea'.

~ Sky News, 10.25 GMT

Predictable much?

They must have someone on-call to state the obvious for them.

I don't know why they even bother with these statements. They should just release one statement: #

"UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: The UK government strongly condemns all military aggression by any state against another. Unless the perpetrator is Israel. In which case we regret the escalation of violence but are unwilling to do or say anything of any real importance"

God, if he does exist please don't allow things to escalate further.

It's not about God. It's about a country being run by a psychopath. The sooner humanity erases psychopaths from positions of power, the better for humanity. Psychopaths care nothing about human suffering, ergo their inhuman behaviour and megalomaniacal behaviour.

I'm pretty sure key members of SK government were moved to bunkers a couple of hours ago.

That's old news.

Maybe it's just the collective force of the many Doom threads that have arisen on here lately, but something about this incident does not sit well with my intuition...

Latest on Australian news is NK now claiming it was an exercise gone wrong, yeah right.

Also;

"International reaction.

Australia's Foreign Minister, Kevin Rudd, says the situation in Korea is deeply concerning.

"I'm confident that president Lee Myung-bak will handle this appropriately," Mr Rudd said.

"I'm less confident the North Koreans are capable of handling these things competently, but we in Australia will stand in support of the Republic of Korea's response to this provocative act.

"This is bad for the stability and security of the region and this region is our region, Australia's as well."

The White House has condemned the artillery attack and demanded the action cease.

"The United States strongly condemns this attack and calls on North Korea to halt its belligerent action," the White House said, adding that it was in close and continuing contact with South Korea over the situation.

"The US is firmly committed to the defence of our ally, the Republic of Korea, and to the maintenance of regional peace and stability."

Japanese prime minister Naoto Kan has ordered his ministers to prepare for any eventuality.

China has also expressed concern over the attack, while a senior Russian foreign ministry official says the artillery attack is unacceptable and called on both sides to show restraint to prevent a wider conflict.

North Korea says the South initiated the firing of shells, prompting it to take military action.

"Despite our repeated warnings, South Korea fired dozens of shells... and we've taken strong military action immediately," the North's official KCNA news agency said in a brief statement.

It did not elaborate whether North Korea had suffered any damage from the exchange.

Absolutely. The people of NK have already suffered enough. Not that there seem to be many left who are not in the military, of course.

Have you ever seen satellite shots of NK? Where are all the people? It's actually quite scary to see.

Nobody find it strange that the BBC was there to film the shells landing very convenient.
The BBC always seems to be at the right place at the right time.

Thanks

Just like in bosnia and start of the war remember how BBC was always with the radical Islamic side?

NK Threatens More Strikes

SEOUL, South Korea -- North Korea is threatening to continue launching strikes against South Korea if it violates their disputed sea border "even 0.001 millimeter."

North Korea's supreme military command said Tuesday that it would "launch merciless military retaliatory strikes."

The warning was carried by North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency.

Not sure what to make of this.

The footage you refer to as 'BBC' and "omg how were they there first?!?", was NOT recorded by the BBC. Look into it before you jump to conclusions please.

Do we know yet if SK actually retaliated, assuming the truth is that NK attacked first?

I've heard that SK scrambled fighters in response, but no mention yet of what those fighters did, if anything.

Personally I think this will be it now. There won't be anything for a while at least. It's just concerning that NK makes more extreme gestures each time to get the attention they want.

I hope SK holds out against any further attack and doesn't escalate it, unless they are certain they can completely take out NK in one shot.

Well you're right, we shouldn't nuke them. We should just MOAB them... and by them I meant the capital.

A MOAB is way better. No radiation.

And how do you suggest we do if it comes to war? Just march in? You know how many people are gonna die if we just march in?

Only in Seoul, there's 7 million people. NKorea have 13 000 artillery pieces aimed at Seoul. It is estimated that in the first 30 minutes, 500 000 civilians would die... and that is if they don't use biological/chemical warheads.

So SKorean troops ARE NOT EVEN 1 meter into NKorea yet and there's already 500 000 innocent dead.

Then you add that North Korea have 1.1 million soldiers, and if everybody trained to fight, fight, that's 9 million soldiers. They are like the Japanese during WW2. Brainwashed to the core. Would rather commit suicide than being made prisoner.

So that's another 1-2 million people dead at least just on the NKorean side.

So, like the Japanese during WW2, you have to shock them... first by taking out their ``god leader``...

But this time we can do it without nukes. We can do it with cruise missiles and MOABs.

LOL

Quote of the year.

Seriously though, this is the most belligerent action since the cease fire (Korean War has never ended) and this could be the start of a conflict. As the Russians, including aligned with American opinion, South Korea will not allow an attack - on this scale - to go unpunished.

if they meant to back up their first declaration, they'd be at war right now. that is if NK truly believe in their own claim that this island they shelled is actually theirs.

Sometimes the bbc is there even before a major event occurs, and reports it too early.

Dharamsala, November 23 - India is fast-tracking new troop formations in the North-East to tackle China’s massive deployment of forces on the Tibetan border, reported The Times of India.

www.phayul.com...'s+troop+build-up+in+Arunachal+a+%22misstep%22+:+Chinese+expert&id=28603

If war erupts between Koreas, expect China to push against India by supporting the Maoist resistance movement within India, also expect Pakistan to support Kashmir resistance groups, and unleash huge terror attacks in India through its ISI armed wing. Also expect Iran to act up, killing couple of thousand troops in Afghanistan and Iraq by giving the insurgents weapons.

Also expect Russia to act up, and push towards Europe, while Pakistan will boost support for Taliban.

All of these need just one huge distraction, and that distraction is a Korean war.

That is why US is not attacking N-Korea, because US knows what will the consequences be. Provocations such as these will come more often

Good luck to US
you need it.
