The thinness of the ice crystals/water vapor in the upper atmosphere has as much effect as holding up a pane of glass and looking at the moon. There
shouldn't be any visual effect on the sharpness of the image when viewed with the naked eye.
Think about it. When there is no moon to light the evening sky, do these thin clouds block the stars? The only reason you can see the clouds is
because they are reflecting the moon light.
