I WILL BE SIGNING MY NAME AND CONTACT INFO AT THE BOTTOM LIKE EVERYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET WHO WORKS IN AN OFFICE ENVIRONMENT.

This isn't an office environment, and we don't need your website or email with every post, or in your intro. We can send you a u2u if we want such things.

2 things mate.

1.) I work at an office and sign jack squat with contact info on this site, and I do it in the office all the time. Same with everyone else I know.

2.) If you think you haven't broken a rule then you're wrong. I'm suprised SO is being this patient with you. I believe disrespecting an admin or mod for that matter if a rule broken, but that's just me.

Seems to me a little much is being made by a guest asking to come in. I likewise have a website. I don't want ATS or others coming to my forum/website and drawing people away until I get to know them (ATS, etc.).
I stumbled across this forum and decided I want to join in. I searched for and found the rules. I continue to want to participate here.

This is place belongs to someone other than myself.

Hi all. That seems simple enough to me.

The web, and this forum included, are not two-dimensional like an office memo. The contact info of someone can easily be found, if necessary, by clicking on the Profile link under each post. That's what it's there for, making repeating the info there within the post itself unnecessary, and obviously the point made by the policy here is quite clear.

Funny that this thread, which was a simple reminder of the "Terms and Conditions of Use" regarding off-site linking, and was then "hijacked" by the "wronged member" (aka perpetrator), finds it way back into the "24 hour bank". Oh, the strange machinations of malcontents, if only the real world was so clearly defined.

Oh man... nice Pisky now let go of that sake bottle.

The point is though, that why should you be allowed to do something, whilst no one else does it, no one else is permitted, and no one else cares?

Well what a site! No idea you were out there. And I want to thank you so much for researching that NovaTech thing. It seemed very odd, but there was something mysterious about it that pulls at you. Lovely scam.

Not sure what I will have to offer up in the discussions, but we'll see. Don't have a personal website - and I wont post my vacation pics here either. Agree with your site mgt. and --> All I can say is: Very cool. ...mac

Well I'm all for fighting the man but, in this case I think the mods are right.
It's all about picking your battles. When I registered, I took the time to read the rules. Though it was incredibly difficult I managed to go for two whole posts without breaking the rules.

Does this "no posting of links" for newbies rule apply also to links which direct the reader to the source of the information contained within the post, or just personal links?

Thanks!

Hi Roadscholar:

Just personal links. You are expected to link to sources if you quote from them or refer to them in your post.

Here is my standard greeting of useful info (cut and paste)... U2U me if you have any questions.

Welcome to ATS!

There is lots of information and discussion here on many topics.

Take some time to look around and familiarize yourself with all of the boards including ATS for alternative and conspiracy related discussion; BTS for lighter subjects and chit chat; PTS for political discussion; and our very own news portal ATSNN.

Each board has several forums with it’s own assigned moderators. Whether your just reading or want to jump right in, we only ask that you follow the site's terms and conditions.

If you have any questions you can check these handy resources:

Zedd’s Handbook of ATS Links
The Frequently Asked Questions page
And my very own: Answers to FAQs not in the FAQ page

Also very handy is the search feature (on the tab menu just bellow the banner at the top of every page) to make sure you are not double posting something already being discussed.

If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to U2U a moderator anytime. There is always somebody online and you don’t need a minimum of points or posts.

Have fun and see you around the boards!

Now I dare you to tear yourself away from your computer!

.

I am figuring it all out slowly....mostly just reading some of what's already posted about here and there, though.

This is one of the most fascinating and well-organized message boards I've ever encountered!

While we certainly want to encourage and promote the online efforts of our members, there are some restrictions we need to ask everyone to follow.

First and foremost, do not create a post promoting your website, as our terms & conditions require you to ask permission first. Generally, it's "poor board manners" for a new member to immediately promote their website in your first introduction post. Simply tell us your interests and how you came to ATS.

After time, and we all get to know you, we certainly want to know what your involved with, and perhaps even get an official link exchange going in our Conspiracy Links domain.

If you have something important to promote, and have been a contributing member of the community, we can discuss ways to help you. We may allow you to author a story for our main website that references your work, or utilize an exclusive ATSNN story on what you and your site are up to.

Because of our size and popularity, we need to be careful about sites we link to, and how the linking is allowed. Sites like us regularly get purveyors of porn or scams registering in the hopes of getting the link in their profile indexed by Google (only members see profiles, so they're immediately cut-off from Google). Here are some of the general things we consider:

1- Google includes sites we link to in their overall calculations of relevancy.

2- A few automated site filtering systems also use the sites for which we have outbound links in the calculations of our 'score'. If we have too many links to sites they rank low, we will also be ranked low, thereby potentially causing ATS to be automatically filtered by schools, libraries, and corporate networks.

3- And we need to mange the general perception that we stay on top of what's happening in our forums. If we allow any link to be posted, no matter by whom or to what, ATS may appear to be a "free for all". Our growth and credibility relies on just the opposite, we are far from a free for all.

So thanks, in advance, for helping with these seemingly trivial, but important in the long-run, issues for ATS.
