How can that be of benefit to anyone? No one would discover what the members are thinking. The members would feel their efforts are futile in that no one is listening.

I guess what he is trying to say is that if such a secret Jem of information (such as ATS) gets big enough, Gets so commercial and mainstream that it becomes a household name people would pass right over it in search of another site that offers real truth. Its a catch 22.Your dammed if you do, and your dammed if you don't. What kind of beast have you unleashed on the human race?. lol

Congratulations! Good job on setting up what has now become one of my favourite websites. In all fairness though: you haven't beaten the BBC until you beat bbc.co.uk (the original domain).

Kudos to the ATS administrators, moderators and members. It is fascinating to see ATS climb high and I hope it continues to gain more popularity. I am glad I chose to register in this forum and found such a great community.

So you guys are earning more and more money? Well done and good for you.

This site is driven by content, provided by its users. How are the top content providing users of this forum benefiting of that? Do they getting their share of the success??

Congratulations to ATS!

It's a wonderful site. When I post here I think my views do reach reach places that they should be read. I still wish that we were able to link to every post we have ever made on the site. Hopefully in future this will be accomplished. Presumably it is a coding challenge to do so. Godspeed the webmasters.

ATS has probably created a techno paradigm. News started as fireside conversation in the stone age and is returning to its roots. Others in the biz are bound to notice. Watch out for that most sincere form of flattery from some of the information industry's heavy hitters.

He means eavesdropping on the party line back in Pumphandle, Kansas, when he wasn't hanging out at the poolhall.

I think.

So ummmm where do I pick up my check?

maybe one day you will.

If the site gets more and more popular, they can charge more for ad space, maybe even earn enough per thread to pay contributers for all the flags they that they get. something like 0.01 penny for 10 flags. a reward system that actually pays members. i think the site could get HUGE if they did this

Serious competition to ATS from the mainstream media might come in the form of websites run by major news organizations where "experts" get into loosely moderated forums where they are willing to go to the mat arguing against some of the formidible voices from the "outside" that show up here.

You could think of it as a situation where the professional shills and plants that appear in certain topics on ATS take off their masks and become stand-up defenders of whatever position in any given discussion. In other cases there could be discussions where more or less disinterested academics have at it in discussion with opinionated pro/am commentators among the public and really anyone with an opinion.

A site like that would be a hybrid of ATS and the blogosphere and the straight world of academic discourse.

I've seen numerous discussions on ATS where a lot of good could have been done in an argument if a very well informed academic with the right kind of open, good humored and tolerant attitude were to inject real expertise into the discussion. The MSM could actually pay such people for their time, unlike ATS, and might find inroads to market share following a formula like that.

Talk to when it hits the top 10.
Does that site consider porn sites in its ranking?

Way back "in the day," there were dial-in "Bulletin Board Systems" (BBS) where users at home would use their telephone modems (a 900 baud modem was broadband back then), and interact with a text-based system with a DOS-like interface for creating threads and posts.

Soon after that, there was CompuServe which elevated the BBS concept with a graphical user interface to a wide range of topical forums.

I helped run a reasonably popular Conspiracy BBS, CompuServe's most popular forum (The ComputerArts forum), and their sixth most popular forum (Politics & Conspiracies). All before Mosiac was known as the first web browser.

Yep, I remember.
That was when you had no "memory" and everything had to be printed on a dot matrix printer.
And the music programs? If the kids only knew...

Yes, I remember those and the little devices like the Timex siinclair, Atari game consoles, Adam coleco, etc.I actually purchased those at Lowes lumber and supply, as a closeout. Hey, try the slide ruler!! Those were the days.

Congratulations to you and the crew behind the scenes making this work. You have a great chemistry, and as that old ad by Monsanto went, "Without chemistry, life would be impossible!" (lol
)

Kudos on beating out Coast to Coast am, former Art Bells and now George Noorey's lap spill. In 2009 it decisevly took them out according to Alexa and never looked back.. Remember this is an RNN radio nationally backed site,

I
f I did not know any better 2012 apocalypse got to CoasttoCoastam first in 2009.
Cruel and shameless on my part, I admit, but I mean every word of it.
Mark Springer slapped me on the head using Alexa , but I am an old timer, can only learn one trick at a time.
Extra special shoutout, whereever he is, I luv ya' bro.

Again,
My most sincere and highest regards for all of you at ATS do for every community out here, and allowing our voices to make a difference.

Oh , Go on....

I've enjoyed my stay here at ATS. If anything for the entertainment value. That alone is priceless in my book. Every so often we find a diamond in the pile. Then it makes it all worth it. Yes that includes dealing with the TROLLS!

Believe it or not it costs money to run this joint so people like you can poopoo it for free.

Now SHAD UP and SIT DOWN.
You're blocking the screen

Please, I'm in this business....what money??? Ooooooh right, forgive me Slayer..the cost of USER PRODUCED CONTENT is wicked isn't it????

I'm just saying...it's a ridiculous, self-aggrandizing, pointless statement to have the actual owner/CEO or whatever even post that statistic.

All it really says is there are way too many Yoga/Liberal/Borg-thinking pseudo-intellectuals on this site...i come here mainly to remind everyone of this as well as TRY to find anything remotely resembling ANYTHING that will skew my skepticism toward the paranormal...so far ZIPPO...of ALL the posts EVER posted here we are NO where closer to unfolding any secrets of the universe...it's pointless aside from stirring the pot a bit.
