Being in Japan, I deal with this quite a bit, looks like encoding, but I have tried all major types of encoding: Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Baltic, Arabic, Korean, Thai, Tukish, Western European, Vietnamese, and Hebrew. This is not Encoding, which is probably the only thing that this can be. Something must be up

I guess it could be encryption which would lead up back to the keys in the clues. But, does not look familiar to me.

what this looks like to me is when you change the setting on a typewriter the keys correspond to the symbols

for example you type "p" and it comes out as "@"

except that I don't have a keyboard / typewriter I can try this out on as I chucked my typewriter in the bin

so could someone out there please give this a go ?

Cheers

heres a good link for converting that (crayons hex post) to decimal or binary
www.ronshardwebapps.com...

okay, i know nothing about coding but someone here must know how to convert this information into alphabet

character 1=
Dec 180
hex B4
Octal 264
Binary 10110100

character 2=
Dec 186
hex BA
Octal 272
Binary
10111010

, Okay the binary does not equal anything in the alphabet

but maybe it is more complicated than that, and we need to arrange the code a bit

ie 10110100, if you split it in half and re arrange it 01001101 it is then a M

major flaw, this pattern does not work for the next letter

you guys out there that actually understand this stuff, please put me out of my misery

If I am obviously barking up the wrong tree please let me know ,and soon !!!

Cheersgood luck all

Try holding down the ALT key and using your numerical keypad, in sequences of four. For example:

ALT + 1099 = K
ALT + 8256 = @
ALT + 9936 = ╨
ALT + 4002 =
ALT + 4655 = /
ALT + 8877 =
ALT + 3400 = H
ALT + 4856 =
ALT + 2585 = ↓

Etc. etc. etc.

There are four.........gutian... amorite... sumerian... hammurabi...

www.gutian.com... goes to a site with that kinda text.

I don't have the translation things to view in English, so I have no idea what to look for.

Well... If you put the code into a website under the Western European Encoding, then change the coding to Simplified Chineese, and then translate that to English, you get:

"Foothill
donkey Lu Lulu donkey
Gansu leaks Lou Lulou the wealth
foothill to leak
gathers together ridge Low Lulong Low??
foothill
Lu?lou the coal
not to unite Lu Lv? Lu
Loulu not coal foothill Lu"

lol

That is actually Japanese characters, plus some junk, plus some chinese mixed in. It means absolutely nothing in Japanese and the chinese will not really make sense like that, unless you did a character by character translation, which would just come out to jibberish.
Personally, I think that this was an encoding problem.

Maybe it's a simple substitution cipher. I did a text analysis on the hex and I think a simple substitution cipher might be possible.

Source now says: ?=-5- (used to be "?"), so another pointer to www.hammurabi5.com...? There does not appear to be anything new on the main page, and I have not had any luck with anything beyond /look/outward.

My bad on the "?". The h.t.t.p.-.e.q.u.i.v. gets translated to a "?" - it is recognized as a tag by the forum code.

Does not change my thoughts, however. Should we be looking more closely at www.hammurabi.com...?
