This is shaking out to be a fairly decent show. It's about a family that goes on a trip to South America, and has a plane crash. They land in a remote lake filled with an exotic, thought to be long extinct plant, that somehow triggers superpowers within the family members.

It's a pretty weak origin, but the series itself is pretty decent. The mom is the career woman, and never had time, so now she has super speed (ala the Flash). The dad is a police sketch artist, but always wants to do more, so now he is super strong and nearly indestructible. The son was a slow student, but now he's super smart. The daughter was socially awkward, but now she can read minds.

The mom's boss seems cast as the super villain, but this angle has been a little slow to develop. (She doesn't know his activities, and he's unaware of her abilities). There are other super-powered folks too, and the family is just learning about these.

I started watching this, even if I didn't like the main actor guy. It seemed a lot like Heroes meets Desperate Housewives based on the Fantastic Four.

Too bad my interest faded when they had to focus so much on the family dynamic. I don't care about the trials and tribulations of homelife.

It's a pretty decent show, my wife and I don't get to watch much t.v. because we have 4 kids. The shows we do get to watch are House, No Ordinary Family, The Middle and Modern Family. I love The Middle, it's sort of along the lines of what Rosanne was.

If you like those, you'd probably like this other breakout show...can't remember the name of it, but I watch it. The show revolves around a slacker who gets with a girl, they have a kid, and the girl gets the chair for murder. So, the slacker lives with his parents (the mom was in Goonies, Martha Plimpton) (who had him while they were in their teens), and his grandmother, played to the hilt by Cloris Leachman...

EDIT: Raising Hope, is the name of the show (Hope is the baby's name)....

It's never guaranteed that a show will be enjoyed by 100% of viewers. I suppose that some people will not be entertained by No Ordinary Family, and that's fine. I enjoy it, but I don't insist that everybody else does.

What I have appreciated is that all of the family members have come across as basically normal people, discounting the powers. In a recent episode, each one of them lied to the family, and they had to experience the consequences.

The origin of the superpowers is still a mystery, and the wife's boss is involved in some way.

There are some similarities to Heroes, but the family characters are a bit more real and less cliched than the Heroes cast. The Family children act more like real teenagers than Claire did; she seemed to be written more as an adult.

I saw the first episode of it, it was pretty good. It was funny how the mom's friend was asking all of the same questions I was wondering when she sees the display of speed. It's not really my kind of show though, so I didn't watch it again, but I am still hearing good things about it so I might check it out once more.

The new season is shaping up nicely as well. I'm looking forward to see how the boss plays into all this.

Anyone notice how much the assassin (currently going through a moral dilema) looks like a young Sean Penn?

Yeah, he was on that tabloid show Courtney Cox had before Cougar Town. Dirt, was the name of it. Actually a decent show...oh well.

I'm pretty behind on this show though, as we haven't watched a lot of TV lately...
