Chopper 2 Films Red-Hot Streak Moving Behind Emp. State Bldg

CBS 2 reached out to a top astronomer who looked at the video. He said it looks beautiful, but that is was like nothing more than what’s known as a “contrail” — condensation from a commercial or military jet.

After watching the video, I do not believe this is a contrail. What do you guys think?

Doesnt look like a con trail. but its hard to tell with that light. maybe the sun is catching it at the right spot?

Eh, it's kind of tough to tell what it really is. I'm not sure it's a contrail, but I can't say it is either. Not the best picture to work with, especially with the sunset so dominant.

To appear to be moving as fast as it did, it must have going unbelievably quickly! Unless it was flying low, in which case why was it leaving a contrail. Pretty weird looking contrail too, the news anchors didn't sound like they really bought it either.

Okay, let me say this:
*a low flying aircraft CAN leave a contrail behind it
*sunsets CAN cause similar coloring effects
*it seems like this local news is trying to use the excitement from the missile in L.A. to boost it's ratings.

My opinion? A contrail. Perhaps it is stationary (i.e. hardly moving) but the chopper is going so fast from left to right that the buildings seem to sweep past it, giving the visual effect of the contrail moving behind the buildings.

I agree that it does look like it is hauling ass across the skyline. I would have thought that the "contrail" would be longer, instead it looks like it stays the same length as it goes across the sky. I am no expert, Nice find, been a busy week of strange happenings.

Well I have NEVER seen a contrail move like that, but uh I'll trust the good folks at CBS NY over my own sureness.

contrail from what? it looks more like a moving con without the trail to me.

Why is it always contrails, swamp gas. If the guy filming it was freeking out saying oh my god what is that. As it shoots across the sky at an incredible speed. Look at in NEG it is not contrail.


Keep It moving people you see nothing.


What you think you see or may have seen is swamp gas or a weather baloon.

But detective what I'm telling you as it was a cylinder shape with the center of it spinning around and there was like no noise what so ever and it was right there in front of me.

So, it's most definitely behind the Empire State building. Looks to be pretty low considering the speed. Why would they allow such a low flying plane over New York CITY? Especially after 9/11. Just some food for thoughts And it seems to me if it was very far in the distance it wouldn't be moving so fast..

More questions would be answered if they showed more video.

Like where did it go and for how long was it visible?

A "top astronomer"? Who would that be? Larry Silverstein?

It's a contrail. It's always a contrail. Contrails exist in the real world, and do not need anything even remotely conspiratorial to happen.
The good that comes from all of this is the increase in the number of people using the sciences involved to identify things that are really contrails. Then they will know when someone starts on a "chemtrail" story, that this is a person who doesn't understand simple science and laugh it off.

And face it, it's only behind the Empire State Building from one angle. From another angle, it would be in front of the ESB. And from two angles, it could be said it was beside the ESB. It's all a matter of perspecive.
Just like the apparent speed and direction it is flying. And the apparent size and distance.

We are being deceived. That is not a jet contrail. There is something going on and the public is being kept in the dark. Like suddenly people don't know what a contrail looks like.

Contrails have become the latest cover. I think I liked swap gas better.

I see contrails over NYC all the time and I can tell you this isn't one.

It could never look like it was in front of the ESB no matter what angle. Think about it, it's not possible.

Anyway you are right. I think it could simply be that because the helicopter is moving it looks like the contrail is moving fast. All contrails move but only because of the wind blowing them, you usually wouldn't be able to notice it anyway because the wind would have cleared it up by then.

A missile in the past the boost stage into the cruise stage would look like that too.....
The California video was obviously in the boost stage.
Something might be going on.
Only an ICBM at great distance could make burn behind it like that....at that speed.

This argument is just as strong as the jet contrail one.

There isn't much for news all week, I suspect a cover up.
