Reminds me of the old joke about the Harvard business major and the carribean local.

He sees the locals are fishing, and catch fish within minutes and return with that nights dinner.

He tells the locals they should go out and fish for a day, and go to the town and sell their catch.

The local says then what?

He says then you buy another boat, and employ some of your friends and start making some real money.

The local says then what?

He says maybe you can build your own cannery, and buy fish from everyone else, and sell it to the world.

The local says then what?

He says well then you'll have a lot of money and be able to take it easy, hang around all day, drink at night with friends, and spend time with your family.

The local looks puzzled at the businessman, and says, well that's what I already do now.

I put this in this category because it is a conspiracy, and I would like to know where the original concept came from.

Anyway here it goes...

Does it mean I'm a bad or lazy person because I think the whole concept of working 5 days a week for 40+ hours is absolutely ridiculous?

I have a home, a vehicle, 2 kids and a wife and I must work all this time to make ends meet. I'm not a huge spender and we do nit go out very much so take that into account too. I am always responsible with my life and that will not change, I just do not understand why we have to dedicate half of our waking lives to work.

I understand the whole concept of "well you have the choice to have what you have" but that is not what I am talking about. When you have children they need a lot, they grow require new clothes, shoes, clothes and toys.

I always have this conversation with others because they think people that do not want to work are the bad lazy people of society. I think not.

We should not want to work that much, it drains us and causes us a lot of stress. We also spend less time with our family, and when we do get home we are burnt out and do not have much energy to do anything. I love spending time with my kids and my wife and hate giving it up to a job that I barely enjoy.

That to me is insane...

I want to enjoy my life, I want to have utilities in my home, I would like a way to get around, I just don't understand why we have to spend so much time working, away from our families, that we are supposedly working for..

Who made the rules of 9 to 5? Where did this concept even come from? Why do we abide by it?

Is this "tptb"? So we do not have enough time to do anything but work? So we cannot pay attention to how much the world is falling apart around us?

Why do we work so damn much?

I just want food, shelter and happiness.

Any thoughts?

Yes. We talk about the NWO wanting to turn us into slaves - but that is perhaps a myth perpetuatd by the NWO itself, because the truth is we are ALREADY slaves.

Why do we have to pay tax to the bankers? Because that's who receives the income tax, the private banking cartel. We have to pay tax to the bankers because they consider us to be their slaves. We work, they get rich and play.

I just want to point out that this has nothing to do with not working at all. I'm fine with working, though I would choose not to, unless it was something I enjoyed. This is about the fact that most of our lives are dedicated to doing so.

I don't want a free lunch...I want an enjoyable life.

Spending all my time working is not enjoyable.

My thought is that if you're working 40+ hours to make ends meet, then cut back on what you're spending money on and you'll be able to work less.

Downgrade the house and car, and live in a less affluent neighborhood.

This will bring your expenses in line with your desired reduction in work hours and resulting reduction in income.

If you have all the toys, expect to put in the work time for them.

I have no toys, my children do but I do not. I also have no debt minus my mortgage and vehicle.

I do not think I should have to move to a lower class neighborhood because I wantbmore enjoyable time. That sounds kind of ridiculous don't you think? I do not live in a posh neighborhood by any means, I live in a "starter" home, which in my city is about $300,000. And that is not even the average city price, it is much lower.

I choose not to live in an apartment because I have already done that. I have a problem with listening to music and movies too loud I have been told. And I also like a yard for my children and dogs to play in.

My vehicle is my main needs of my work. It is what pays the bills in my house, so I choose to have a newer vehicle because it means less stress and has a full warranty.

I do not live beyond my means, I have a fairly humble lifestyle and buy nothing on credit.

Think of how many full days of your youth you spent inside a school building with flourescent lights glaring in your face sitting on a hard chair/desk.

Not out in the sunlight experiencing life. Not out in this eden but inside of a prison it seemed.

I agree and I think this is almost torture to kids. They condition us to this way of being from a very young age. Kids should be out playing and learning the way we have evolved to, not in an artificially lit room from a teacher that doesn't give a crap about our kids.

And now the best part of every day i'm stuck inside at guitar center every week. Seems so unfair but i guess you gotta work to get anywhere in this life.

But that's what's so stupid. Why should we have to work to get somewhere?

Why can't we just be humans, being? Why do we HAVE to work? Why do we have to be humans working?

Look at everything we are taught from childhood...Morality equal working hard, idle hands are the Devil's workshop.. The story of the squirrel storing nuts and the lazy (read "evil" ) squirrel who did not. Seems many stories are geared toward telling children to do all of these things that you hate and you will have things you want and THEN you will get to enjoy and be happy..when will that time come..when I am 80?

The problem is not work.. it is the fact that most of us work jobs that we absolutely abhor..if you are one of the lucky ones that have a job that you love..congrats. Not only does this society equate not working with evil..the amount of money you earn is proportional to your value and your value equates to your morality.

Did you ever know one child that said they wanted to be a thief when they were grown? "Yes I want to rob elderly women for a living when I grow up".. I have not heard one child wish this on themselves.

They have plopped a big fat one in front of us and we swallowed it...MONEY.

We are bombarded with ads for us to buy things we don't need..from birth to death..don't tell me to just turn off the tv either..I rarely watch... the ads are everywhere.

When we abolish legal tender we as a group can enjoy our lives and I believe be more productive.

But what I have discovered is that most people laugh at this concept and do not believe it is possible to eliminate money. They cannot even conceive of a society with no money. We have been trained to cherish what has no value and disregard things that bring us joy..

Really.. I have to bust my @ss for a whole year just to get 2 weeks off?.. But the clincher is..I can't go anywhere because I have to be responsible and save my money..or I am just too tired and want to do nothing with my time off.

I feel you.

Lets first abolish the federal reserve being privately owned..then abolish money.

My 1 cent but I will stop here.

I like the idea of a resource based economy, but I think there are way too many people who love money too much.

What we need is a country, that we can set up as we wish, that's when the ball could start rolling.

It would be a huge idea that people could do whatever they love. The world and products would become so much better. If we only had people that loved teaching, teaching they world would explode with knowledge.

So...let's get a country...

We will be a very very small country..almost everyone I know is poor or just a hair above it..and they still love this system. I can understand the very wealthy loving this type of society..they can live the life that we should all have..but I have found it is the poor that fight the hardest to keep things as they are. I consider most middle class to be poor as well..all it takes is one bump in the road,,an illness, accident, layoff..and they are in the poorhouse as well.

peace.

Hi, Pred. It's been a while since I posted in a thread of yours.

You certainly aren't a bad person for wanting to work less. We would all like to work less. And of course, you could work as little as you wanted, or not at all, if you were prepared to face the consequences.

All that lives must work for its living. Plants work all day long. So do plankton and other filter feeders. Gazing animals spend all day foraging and grazing. Songbirds must find several times their weight in food to get them through the day; for them the hunger never ends. So it goes, throughout the living world. Humans are no different.

What human beings call work is really the struggle against entropy and dissolution. As Rudyard Kipling rather baldly put it: if you don't work, you die.

I enountered this same crisis in my own life. I looked forward to my weekends but when the weekend arrived I found not much joy in it. I found I was *forever* deferring happiness and joy. I realized I needed to find joy and fulfillment in every moment of my life. It's not been easy bit I think I am making headway. First on my todo list was to get my thoughts in order and clear the nonsense and negativity from my life. I long ago realized how those in power use fear as a controlling tactic. So, I set out to remove irrational fear from my moment to moment thought process. I am becoming master of my own mind. I still feel the drudgery and futility of my 9 to 5 job. That is merely another challenge; a problem to be solved. One aspect of this, already mentioned, is the burden of fees, taxes, inflation, etc; the burdens placed on us by government and greedy large institutions. I liken this to the trench warfare of WW I. You make progress a bit at a time, a day at a time.

Then find a job you enjoy. You wanted to have kids, a home, all the other things you have, how do you think it should work for you to have these things and not work 40 hours a week? I know plenty of people that work more than 40 hours a week and still have time for their families.

I have a tough time believeing someone who is in your position even asks these questions.
