Former Youngest, Oldest Person Alive Begins 115th Year

The world's oldest person has become a year older after celebrating her 114th birthday.

Hendrikje van Andel-Shipper was born on June 29, 1890, in The Netherlands.

She became the youngest person since 1988 to be the oldest in the world after Puerto Rican Ramona Iglesias-Jordan died on March 29 aged 114 years and 211 days.
