Like Gods We Create Matter!

www.youtube.com

By recreating the Big Bang, scientists have used the raw materials as from the birth of our universe to CREATE NEW MATTER, unlike times before when we had to use preexisting atoms and merely reassemble the to form new molecules we can now do this from scratch and make new atoms to make new molecules that have never before existed. we (HUMANITY) now create as GODS!

A world of new objects formed out of the raw materials of creation awaits us. Materials unlike anything before seen or has long existed but by the hands of the gods themselves. Humanity has now been exhaled to the status of GODS and creators of NEW things under the sun! I only hope we will use this for the betterment of humanity and the world around us.
We did it, congratulations to all of us here on this newly formed world, a birth to a new unforeseen future by most.

alchemy is not divine, but it still is exceptional. we aren't gods, but what a step we have taken in that direction!

You should check out a book called Hacking Matter by Wil McCarthy. Basically they can create a Quantum Dot, which is an atom that they can add and subtract electrons and change the matter. Lead to Gold, Alchemy. This is on the single atom level at the moment, but it is possible.

"Imagine being able to program matter itself - to change it, with the click of a cursor, from hard to soft, from paper to stone, from fluorescent to super-reflective to invisible. Supported by organizations ranging from Levi Strauss and IBM to the Defense Department, solid-state physicists in renowned laboratories are making it a reality."

Quite amazing. It will be interesting as humanity will soon be able to hack matter at the atomic/quantum levels in order to take any form of matter and transform it to another. Much like the replicator in star trek. The physical world will also be as malleable as a virtual 3D one, with people able to program objects, structures, and even lifeforms from scratch, and to update currently existing forms of matter. Will be interesting when a skyscraper can change in design/configuration overnight just by uploading a new program and rearranging the matter in it. Or when a person can decorate their home just by uploading a template and allowing all the matter within their home to be rearranged... Fascinating times ahead..

i think you have to clarify that when you say people, you mean governments. no average human will ever be able to have something like this. can you imagine? everything would lose monetary value if you could just create it with a few simple clicks.

It doesn't sound like they created matter at all. It sounds like they took something that was already here and reshaped and/or grew from it. Nature does that all the time. To create matter, they'd have to do something like take the void of space and go 'poof' and make a chocolate donut appear or something. Ya' know?

Either that, or I'm not getting it.

Energy/Mass can not be created nor destroyed in a closed system (both can only be changed)...

Its a fundamental fact that has yet to be disturbed.

The OP of this thread is making a huge misunderstanding on what was actually achieved by the LHC.

Please be more careful with spreading false scientific information...we don't want a bunch of people quoting this mistake as fact.

Thank you.

You are very right...

You get a star for being both sane and correct today!

The mini bang was created out of raw particles. I'm not impressed. Try creating something out of zero. Until then no big deal.

I bet you they all think they are gods.

I wonder when we will have life form replicators? lol

Yep still does not prove the big bang.

But you watch the news say it does.

Never played it so i do not know what it is like.

But i assume it will come one day, whether behind the scenes cloning exists already, who knows.

OP is right, new matter is routinely created in particle accelerators.

Only energy is always conserved, and cannot be created or destroyed. But it is possible to convert for example kinetic energy into condensed matter energy, because matter is made out of energy (thats what Einsteins E=mc2 means).

I feel this is where the media misrepresent, through lack of explanation, what is going on at the collider.

Please correct me if I get some of this wrong but-
When there is reference to the first millionth of a second after the big bang the discussion is in the context of energy levels not the physical recreation of a big bang. The objective is to see, among other things, how the matter behaves at these energy levels and whether there is another definitive state of matter (quark-gluon plasma). Following the maths backwards in time the energy levels of the universe were much, much higher than they are nowadays. Currently The Standard Model shows that heavy composite particles (Hadrons) are made up of smaller particles (Quarks). The strength holding the quarks together (Strong Nuclear Force) is immensely strong so the energy levels required will have to exceed this to break the hadrons apart and put the matter into the theorised quark-gluon plasma. The gluons are the particles that exchange the strong nuclear force between the quarks.

Following the concept of the Big Bang backwards in time, the energy levels discussed are theorised to be within the first millionth of a second which is where that reference comes from.

Hope this helps at all. Again, if anything in there seems wrong then please correct me.

Sorry to disagree, but I felt I had to.

You are wrong along with the OP.

Mass/energy can not be created nor destroyed in a closed system, only changed/converted/transformed. Here, take a look-

Conservation of mass

Conservation of mass

Its a fundamental law of physics and still holds true...

So again, no, the OP is not correct and you are also wrong for supporting the OP's error.

Science is not perfect...but its clear on this subject. The day it is "proven wrong here", trust me, it will make every TV station/Radio-show/news-rag.

Thanks for your time.
