I saw a few threads about staying home instead of leaving. As I stated in one of them every disaster is different. If we were to encounter an alien war or nuclear war we may have to be on the run. If this turns out like it did with the holocaust we may need to run. So we would only be able to carry what is logical. Now, say we encountered a virus epidemic and everyone is dieing. I would imagine the best bet would move in the country where you are easily not seen but some of us with kids its easier to stay home where there is a good supply of food, water, warmth ect. This thread should talk about ways to protect your home, maybe some videos to survive differrent outcomes in your house. (cooking, boarding up ect) Any ideas would be great, it could come to this one day. Im sorry if this has already been stated there are so many I didnt feel like looking through all of them. Mods delete if necessary
I will post up some info in a bit.

I'm staying home. I want to be comfy when the end of the world comes. If I'm in harm's way, well so be it, I'm not afraid of dying. Originally me and one my buddies were going to head for the hills, when it happened. He's dying from cancer now and I don't really feel like going alone. I'll stay home.

I know one thing I don't want to be in a underground bunker when the SHTF ........When they run out of food....I'm afraid I'd be next on the menu....

LOL I doubt that will happen but who knows what we are capable of. I think it would be best in the country. Go find a secluded house. If your in a city, your home is best but it would be easier to be seen and you most likely would never be able to go out of the house.

When shtf I'm stayin in my king sized bed. If it gets that bad, I'm runnin to the towns tunnles. After stoping at the healthfood store to grab every kinda healing agent possible (and some goodies to munch on). I see no reason to have an underground bunker. There may be no time, and if the earth flips, there may be no way out of the bunker. Or, it will crush anyone inside.

Don't forget wet towels in the windows in case smoke bombs and to prevent harmful ramifications from nuke vapor entering.

Would sealed plastic work? (the ones you use for the winter) Thats a good idea, I didn't think of it. My only concerns would be nukes and comets. I'd have to find a way to prevent intruders too..Also, would it be a bad idea to bring the firepit in our house (given no electrcity, heat ect) If we open a window next to it? We have a cover to prevent sparks from flying out.

[Virus Epidemic]
George W Bush; The MSM said one of the books he read while in office. Was
the 1812 Spanish Flu. When he was in office, some new FEMA camps were built.
Not sure when all them coffins were made, tho? I believe they know something we do not.
It makes me nervous when the President and the elite's are out of the country.
Mention in another post, plastic over windows, doors, duct the leaks.
I have a military gas mask. I think the one
I use for painting would work as good. They sell for about $15 to $25.
Maybe help from getting a flu virus.

I think you can buy some really good gas masks on Ebay...A good thing to do would set up traps. You know theres going to be alot of people raiding the place eventually. I havent figured out what kind of traps yet.. I recommend getting some trash cans or buckets of some sort and planting some veggies/fruits. It will be most likely the only source of food. (its good to start now considering food is so expensive) Another good thing to do would be creating some solar panels. I saw a few videos on making them from soda cans lol very interesting but might take a little work. You can heat water too from it(bathing). Bleach or water purification tablets would be a good idea. I have a bunch of videos but im sure they have already been posted on these threads before.

I gotta say,. even though I am always in survival mode,.
these threads make me giggle.. I just dont know why..
Could be that I just don't feel we are in any danger despite all
the "signs" that seem to be surfacing..
Nevertheless, I have been ready for a few years now and will be staying home..
Also I will say that Obama taking the entire military, and 1000+ staff to India has me a bit concerned

I know theres little to be done there but a few things to know would be good. Look at haiti and indonesia..Well apparently doom and gloom is tomarrow..or sat it keeps changing

yes plastic would work. double layers of plastic sealed with duct tape. also, i don't know what type of ventilation or a/c you have... but don't forget to seal that as well.. i hate to say it.. but people never think about it. i feel personaly there will be lots of peolple, well stocked, plans all layed out.. who will forget that, and perish..

traps. beside the regular, planting thorny bushes etc outside windows the good old fashioned ones work very well. i think the better would be the nail board.. with a twist.. litterally. cut some plywood into 2 foot strips the length of your windows.. take three inch deck screws, put 'em about an inch. inch and a half apart.. you get the picture? screws are better than nails, because they're harder to get out and cause more damage..

depends on what kind you have, and what the threat is.. for some threats you can just buy special filters.. sometimes, for something like a window unit, or removeable system, you can just take it out, and seal the hole with plastic. others, like central units, just sealing the whole thing with plastic and duct tape, should be enough. but of course you do realize this means no fresh air...(as you can't run the systems)

true. in a zombie, viral outbreak type of scenario where the infected are "after you". the second floor of an a small apartment building or small hotel would be safest. you can easily jam elevators, or block stairs with funiture. the reason for the second floor is this... if they happen to break through the barricades or if rescue arrives, second floor is close enough to ground level to jump and bug out to safety...
and i say small apartment or hotel, because you don't know how many of the residents or customers may be infected. small, generally means less people..
