Anderson Cooper mentioned a couple salient points, regarding the "200-million-a-day" bogus story:

1. The war in Afghanistan costs 192 million a day. An entire theater of operations spends 192 million per day. How is Obama supposed to spend that much just in traveling?

2. Clinton's extended trip through Africa cost 5.2 million, taking into consideration inflation and adjusted to today's dollar. Clinton traveled to 6 countries, and took about 1,300 people. Obama is traveling to 5 countries and not taking as many people. So the precedent is there, Obama's trip will cost in the neighborhood of 5 - 6 million.

The media pundits repeating this farce without bothering to fact check it for credibility are only indicating to you their complete lack of professionalism, but then again we already knew they were buffoons who weren't going to let the truth stand in their way of character assassination blog pieces.

Uhuh, and neither do media and blog sites on the internet. Like the other member says, theres nothing stopping you actually asking the folks in the Navy themselves. You can contact various individuals on the internet. Nobody has done this to verify the article and it is real dissappointing. Members have shown their true colors on this forum. They are prepared to take in and throw any story regardless of it's validility or logic, provided it suits their political agenda.

I understand, I get it, you have that political beast inside you to feed and you'll take anything to satisfy it's hunger. But i's at the expense of this country, regardless of what side these conspiracies or stories are targeting.

and where exactly might our Reagan be deployed to after playing in the pacific ocean?

It'll deploy back to it's homeport in San Diego. It returned from last deployment Oct 09. Based on rotations as they stand now, i'm guessing it'll deploy overseas sometime in mid to late 2011.

That's very, very true. However, people with other than political agendas are at work too. That whole "Simpsons False Flag" thread is trying to use the Obama trip as additional proof that the world is about to end. Try to show them the facts and it just gets ignored.

At the expense of the country???!!! ROFL. Mate, we on ATS are NOT the ones harming this country, get a grip. Who are the people who have wrecked the economy? Who lied about WMD, who declared war on Afghanistan and Iraq? You gonna blame that on people from ATS? Lol, that's the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen on here.

Now who is making baseless statements which suit their own personal agenda?

Now, have you actually contacted the people from this thread to verify that your statement is true that no-one has checked this out? If you haven't, which I know to be the case - you're making a statement based on your own assumption. If you haven't verified your statement you are doing exactly what you are accusing others of doing.

I think that shows your true colours and intentions.

OK, to clarify one of the issues on here. The DOD does not provide details of the security for Obama's trip.

details? no...but the pentagon spokesman said it was the most rediculous thing he has heard. the briefing is there for you to read, but i guess you wouldn't even believe the spokesman in a public briefing.

hey ...unicorns are real too! because FOX NEWS said so.

CNN has a story up about this. It's talking about the 34 warships and 200million a day in spending.

I will try to link it.

www.cnn.com...#/video/bestoftv/2010/11/04/ac.obamas.india.trip.cost2.mov.cnn?hpt=C2

There is a link, that is about the extent of my knowledge in posting videos. If anybody can embed it that would be great.

lets hope this one works

This cracks me up that anyone thinks you can look on the internet and see where our ships are.

Even if you are on one of our ships you don`t know where you are going or where you are till you get there.

Its this kind of attitude and willingness to spread misinformation that is at the expense of this country. You can try to rationalize a lie or a piece of misinformation all you want for whatever agenda but at the end of the day you are no different from those politicians you complain about on a daily basis.

Who are the people who have wrecked the economy? Who lied about WMD, who declared war on Afghanistan and Iraq? You gonna blame that on people from ATS?

Excuse me but since when did I just make this about ATS? There are many people on ATS buying lies and misinformation, and others who continue to rationalize it by pointing out the flaws of others (like you). Members here on ATS are just a representation of part of the problem in this country.

Now who is making baseless statements which suit their own personal agenda?

You are. When the Pentagon denied any validility to the article (THEY hold authority on the matter) you decided to attack them on their credibility. You provided nothing else than to insist they cannot be trusted on anything and in this you attempted to make as if there still is truth to this claim. To put it simply, everybody else lied but this newspaper, because it suits your personal attacks on the president.

Now, have you actually contacted the people from this thread to verify that your statement is true that no-one has checked this out? If you haven't,

I am not making the claim that Obama is spending $200 million and sending down 34 ships, so why should I verify a claim that is not my own? If you are to insist that Obama is doing the above, you are obligated to back up your claims, nobody else. It makes no sense for me to come out and claim that Ron Paul spent his own campaign money on personal items and then ask you to prove that this is not true. It's the other way, buddy.

which I know to be the case - you're making a statement based on your own assumption.

Well for starters the Pentagon and the whitehouse have denied that these ships and that amount of money will be spent on Obama's trip. In addition to that those who have pushed this story about (including yourself) have not provided any evidence beyond that of the Indian times newspaper. No verificaton from naval officials or anything. So no, my standing on this issue is not based on assumption.
