This just came out,I was surprised to see it on Reuters. For one thing I am glad to see this in a main stream news outlet.Hopefully this story will get the full attention that it deserves from all of the other news sources.People are getting sick and dying on the Gulf Coast, the seafood is tainted with these chemicals, and a big light needs to be on this matter.

Unfortunately for many people this event has been forgotten. I guess people don't understand that even though the well is plugged the damage has already been done..

I wonder exactly what toxic chemicals were found?

I believe it will be many years before the effects of the spill are truly known. And from what I've been reading about on the web, things don't look good. Alcoa, Reynolds and GM polluted the St. Lawrence and surrounding rivers for a period of about thirty years. Scientists in the 70's tested turtles that were living near the contaminated sites and concluded that the turtle's flesh could be considered toxic. It's been thirty years since they started remediation. It's advised that you eat fish out the St. Lawrence just once a year. If you're nursing or pregnant, not at all. I imagine the Gulf ecosystem will take a long time to heal. We've ruined our planet in the interest of commerce. Mother Earth is going to really rebel one day and we're all going to be sorry for it.

To the earth itself the oil spill would be similar to spilling a small drop on your skin. The earth will be fine. It is only ourselves and the rest of life on the surface of the planet we are killing.

These toxins are from the oil itself...there is also many thousands of gallons of Corexit that have been pumped into the oil flow...it is heavily toxic in itself(Corexit)
There seems to be a legacy of damages which i hope can be remeddied, butBP better be prepared to go good for the tab......
