Could this be one of the reasons earthquakes and volcanoes have been increasing lately?

Could this cause a Magnetic Pole Shift?

A Pole Shift in as in the tilting of the Earth? And would this change the area where our Sun appears to us on Earth. To change in direction and where we would normally see the Sun?

Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.news.nationalgeographic.com

is where the link takes us.
Aside from that, I thought the magnetic pole always wandered around up there.

Here is the correct link to the OP story:

NOT a tilting of the Earth. So no, it does not change our days or seasons in any unusual manner.

The poles are constantly shifting although according to the piece they are moving more rapidly than we have observed in the past. The Earth is dynamic, a "living" system which is constantly changing. This is normal activity, despite the fact that humans may not have observed it before. I can't think of any way in which we as a species can influence these processes so I not inclined to think that we are triggering this or that there is anything we can do about it, other than adapt.

The most significant foreseeable issues are the impact on traditional navigation techniques and, I would think, "Northern Lights" being less common in North America and more common in Northern Eurasia as the poles drift in that direction.

wow, according to that article:

Earth's north magnetic pole is racing toward Russia at almost 40 miles (64 kilometers) a year due to magnetic changes in the planet's core, new research says.

That means in approximately 300 years it will be reversed, assuming it continues. That is rather fast in geological terms.

I had started another thread about That recent earth crack in Michigan getter bigger ans also spreading. ( I didn't catch the name as to where in Michigan) A man did a video of it on YouTube. He said that the crack was getter much bigger and that it was spreading to a alarming degree. When it happened a few months ago, no one felt an earthquake, they only heard a loud boom. And when they went to check it out they found a big long crack in the area.

I hope I get this Link up ok:
