Scientists have managed to produce a small-scale version of a human liver in the laboratory using stem cells.

The success increases hope that new transplant livers could be manufactured, although experts say that this is still many years away.

The team from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center presented its findings at a conference in Boston.

UK experts said it was an "exciting development" but it was not yet certain a fully-functioning liver was possible.The demand for transplant...

I would like to know your take of this. Do you consider this good or bad medical science??
My personal opinion is that I'm all for it. If we need a new arm or leg or any body part for that matter and we can grow it wheres the harm, the only problem I have is where will this type of cloning will stop...or will we stop, can we stop...

Heck, if you could turn the little livers into a sort of liver CRRT machine, to clean the crud out of people's blood that are in fulminant liver failure so that they could keep going in relative health while they wait for a liver transplant, that would be worth it right there.
