At the bottom of everypage, next to the page numbers there is a button that says "Top"...

Is clicking on that button supposed to take you back to the top of the page or what?

I click on it but it just highlights and does nothing. whaaa?

Since the new layout, the top button has never worked for me and I miss it alot! I was actually going to make a post and ask about it. The button is there, it just doesn't work.

I am back on IE and top button works. I don't like Firefox anymore, it gave me several problems besides the top button issue. Im done with them.

That's strange, doesn't work for me either in Firefox 4, but in IE9 and Chrome 7 it works. But I must say I still prefer Firefox 4 to both of them, one top button compared to all the stuff that Firefox can do, (and the way it looks).

I think when you hit it a top hat is supposed to magically appear on your head...

If so...yes...it is broken.

I have no idea why a website would add a top button anyways, keybaords have that button, home. Press home it will bring you to the top.

So it's firefox. Thanks for the information.

I guess I just have to exercise my mouse scrolling finger cause I doubt
if i'll ever go back to IE.

The really strange thing is that all those people whose "top" button doesn't work also aren't able to see any of the responces that say you don't need a top button on the page in the first place because there is a very convenient "key" on everyone's keyboard.

They read right over those posts over and over as if they weren't even there. Hmmmf

I'm inclined to ignore them from now on. No point in even talking to them. Maybe SO should just remove the button altogether. It's not like him to do something redundant. Then again, maybe he's just getting a kick out of screwing with people who use FF.

You assume everyone always has their keyboard within arms reach. My setup, it's not always like that. I don't have a proper desk area and it's not always easy to get to my keyboard and the top button would be useful if it worked, but it doesn't. I'm not switching browsers as this is the only one I like.

So why can't this one feature get fixed? This is not new news here, it's been discussed for weeks.

Suggested work-around:

drag the "recent posts" button to your toolbar. than you can just click that button when you are at the bottom of a page and it will re-direct and refresh the page back to "recent posts" ... I find it better than the "top" button function, personally.

It has worked for me using FF, but now it's broken. Must be a low priority item for ATS.. annoying.
