Whilst perusing the campaign pages for Denver’s Initiative 300 website. I found a link that had a pdf file of various opinion polls dating from the 1970s through current times.

This pdf file only includes abbreviate versions of the polls with source links at the bottom of the page. What struck me most about them is the huge voting block these numbers could potentially represent. Some examples:

American Astronomical Society 1977 Membership Survey,
By Dr. Peter Sturrock,

Does the UFO problem deserve scientific study?
· Certainly/probably 53%
· Possibly 27%
· Probably not/certainly not 17%

Are you willing to contribute to the resolution of the UFO problem?
· Yes 80%

Newsweek Magazine Poll - 1996
48% of Americans believe UFOs are real
29% think we've made contact with aliens
48% think the government is concealing UFO information

MSNBC Poll - 2008 (20663 responses)
Do you believe some UFO sightings are actually visits from extraterrestrials?

61% Yes. With the number of stars in our galaxy, it's impossible to believe that we haven't been visited by the inhabitants of other planets.

25% Maybe. Aliens might have visited Earth, but so far there is not enough compelling evidence to convince me.

14% No. It's just not rational to think that any of the UFO sightings are visiting aliens.

If these numbers are true, a substantial voting block potential could be on the side of disclosure. Instead of just wringing our hands in anticipation, maybe we should be ringing our representatives?

Short of that, maybe people running for various offices will take notice of this untapped, unrepresented constituency and start adding it to their platforms? Who knows, we live in interesting times in which many things are possible.

I agree, so many people are open to UFOs/aliens but can you imagine if a politician ran a campaign based on disclosure? They would be laughed at.

While I am sure that in a questionnaire that people will answer what they think but will they openly admit to believing in UFOs? Would anyone actually vote for a UFO hunter?

Voting is more private and anonymous than filling in online polls. So no matter what people are embarrassed to admit in public. Voting is a very private thing.
