I wanted to share an interesting thought I had about another reason intelligent extraterrestrial beings would want to avoid interfering with our development as much as possible.

A common thread in most sciences when it comes to observing new and strange cultures is the desire to observe the inhabitants of these cultures in their natural environment. You know anthropologist or zoologists that go out in the jungles of newly discovered areas and observe different tribes or different colonies of animals. Another example of this I have read was in an article about how beneficial it would be to science to find life that developed independently on another planet. The idea is we could learn so much about life on our planet by seeing how it developed differently somewhere else.

Now while all these are good reasons for ET not to interfere, they aren’t the main point of my post. I think another reason ET might not want to interfere is that we may be more technologically advanced than they are in some areas or at least on the road to being. When I look at all of the amazing technology that we seem to be on the verge of… artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, biotechnology, robotics, fusion and the list goes on and on I wonder if maybe there might not be something we are developing that doesn’t exist anywhere else. The aliens if you will, don’t want to interfere with our advancement in this technology or contaminate our research and development with their own.

The other thing is that finding out conclusively that ET is out there would seriously hinder any future technological development on earth. First, we would all just assume the aliens would be more advanced than us and most likely expect them to give us tech rather than continue to develop our own. Secondly any tech that we continued to develop would probably be re-focused on space and would leave other technology such as research in biotech and what have somewhat neglected.

Just some thoughts… I mean maybe some of the alien civilizations visiting us have only been around as long as we have. They just mastered interstellar flight but have never really done anything towards biotechnology or nanotechnology? Food for thought.

Nope. We are not. In fact, pixy dust comes to mind. In other words, we use caveman technology.

Everyone who replies is probably going to say no, but I think you have to look at a more broad spectrum of the subject. I think there are plenty of ET's out there that we are WAY more advanced than. They are just glued to their own planet light years away, much like we are. Ones that come to this planet.. possibly not.

Thank you for being open minded about it. I mean, I'm not trying to say that we are completely more advanced than E.T. I just had the idea that, what if we are working on something that they don't have. Maybe they never got A.I., but we are really close to having true A.I. then they wouldn't want to interfere with us until we finished figuring it out.

I understand what you are saying and find it to be a interesting thought, actually.
Although I really doubt it, to be honest. I mean, nothing of what "our" civilisation of today possess in the field of the technology you decribed above, have NOT already been mentioned in ancient texts in regards to the "gods". And if that was THEN, the Visitors is logically atleast many thousand of years ahead, and I somewhat doubt that they wouldn't already be familiar with "our" current technology.

Although, it is ofcourse also fully logical, that two different civilisations don't necessarily have to follow the exact same paths of technological evolution, and while there are some tech that they very apparently possess that "We" do not have, then it is also possible that there are technology that "We" possess that they have not developed.

Actually I have heard this before you brought it up. I heard that since Roswell we have surpassed the greys technology and that is why they backed off. I guess they were surprised how far we could run with the ball once they gave us the rudementary stuff. I don't know if any of this is true but I have heard it before.

Yep just mastered FTL. Other than that they are complete beer drinking, nuts scratching morons.

Actually if you read about UFO/alien reports, there's alot of indication that they use a wide variety of technology, likely including biotech and nanotech. You see in science, one advancement/discovery leads to the next. Try imagining the computer without the transisotr? And try and imagine the transistor without the theory of the electron.

That very well could be true! Who knows.. I bet there are aliens who are in the caveman era who havent even mastered flight yet. There are probably billions of different alien species with all different advancements. I bet there might even be a lifeform we can't see with our naked eyes. I wonder if thats why no one has seen the ones visiting here? They sure are good at hiding...Or....maybe they can make there body invisible? That would be creepy. Your standing next to your car and an E.T. is standing across from you, studying you, watching every move you make and you never even knew it..

Well we are the ultimate killers so I dont see why we wouldnt atleast have better weaponry. Humans kill for any reason hate, revenge, jealousy, food and supplies, entertainment and many other reasons up to and including sexual gratification(wtf right?) so why wouldnt we have better weapons.

You could say that we are more advanced than some other beings, its possible we are biologically more advanced in some way. The concept of other beings visiting earth to plunder it for genetic material in some way is very plausible to me. Our biodiversity is immense!

All of those genetic possibilities, all the stars in the Sky.

we are way better at kickboxing.

i think were more capable than they are because of our spontaneous behavior, by all accounts greys have a hive-like nature.

impossible to say because we dont know if "they" exist, and if they do then we dont know how many different types with differing levels of technology their are.

for all we know we could be the most advanced race in the universe (although i doubt that). then again we could be one of the furthest behind.

but as an example we could use japan v america, america for example is far ahead of japan in weapons tech but japan is far ahead of america in consumer electronics etc etc, so its extremely possible that an alien race may have developed a great spaceship but know absolutely nothing about cell phones etc... just examples btw and not meant literally.

so my point is yes i dare say we would be ahead on some things no matter how advanced an alien race may be

again we just dont know!.

thanks

I don't know about technology but I think we ourselves are more advance in some ways. Its has been said they are intrigued by human emotions. They don't understand what makes us laugh and so on. Animals here on earth don't have the wide range of emotions humans have.

hello. you need to take a look at the books of Joseph P Farell. he explains some areas where we might be.

Maybe because physical principles and the discovery and applications of studying them has led to all "weapons" we possess. Science. Technology. Those 2 words are linked to our civilization for the last two or three hundred years. The universe is nearly 14 billion years old. Do you think that gives ample time for "aliens" to study the universe and increase their knowledge/technology? Tell me your honest answer?

Thank you OP for the thread. +S

I believe that in some ways, we must have in some ways developed technology that the greys/aliens may now have or may not be interested in. I believe this because, for whatever "star system" or section of space they are from we may not understand the physics or the way in which things work there, if that makes sense. haha. So, I would also consider how they evolved as a species, if greater then us they may have used alternate technologies to grow in ways that we couldn't of.

I guess its damn hard to know.

I heard once, or read some where that at some point we did share fibre optic, or information through strands of glass at a high rate with off world counterparts.

Yes I've read those same rumors on the internet too. Roswell crash is what brought us things like fibre optics. False. The reason for fiber optics is because the photon is a massless particle and thus has more potential for transmitting data faster and farther. The demands and competition within our economic system is what brought fiber optics to the forefront of science and engineering. In many cases it's better than copper wire for transmitting signals/data...i.e. it is unaffected by electromagnetic intererence (unlike transmitting electrons through coppper wire).

We put microchips on a monkeys brain and wrote computer software to interpret our brains input on the microchip.

Now the monkey can control a robotic arm and feed himself using only his thoughts.

You have never, ever heard of a cyborg alien on earth sighting. WE have the capability to create a cyborg human.
We've had that technology for a LONG time. Start researching the monkey farm at Holloman AFB and watch the google videos of the cyborg monkey and his robotic arm. They only officially announced we had that tech a few years ago.

Can you imagine what we have mastered by now? We've surpassed the aliens in some areas.

Why would you believe that?

Although the monkeys were only trained in four tasks (move the arm to the food, grasp the food, move the arm to the mouth, ungrasp the food), monkey A (which was controlling a more advanced arm) refined its method, beginning to ungrasp sticky food after retrieving it, presumably after recognizing that it needn't be held unnecessarily. Monkey A was able to self-feed successfully 61 percent of the time; not a bad success rate for a complex procedure.

You think that interpreting a lesser creatures brain signals for the purpose of accomplishing 4 simple everyday tasks to be on the level of FTL? What is your honest answer?

I hope this is a joke... because then we can all laugh. Right now I'm shaking my head with disbelief.

You may have a point. We could be more advanced in technology ( I mean hardware) but they could be more advanced in telepathy and 'mind over matter'. In fact it is most likely that they travel at the speed of thought (not speed of light or speed of sound).

Think of it . Being on the planet Mars by a simple act of will. Might seem a stupid thing to say but who knows they may well have understood the whole illusion of the material world and develop powers that reallly turn them into supermen.

Here we are still struggling with gravity and trying to send a thousand tons of heavy metal and a million gallon of fuel into space.
