Dear KDM_Souljah,
Thank you for adding your observations and feelings about Morocco. I am not sure why you took MRuss's post as a conspiracy discussion. I am pretty sure it was quite evident that it was MRuss's perception and experience upon visiting Morocco that was discussed. Maybe I missed something, or perhaps you did?

I also don't quite see the "lies" you refer to, just a simple observation from MRuss about her visit to that country, there is no propaganda involved or "selling" of Islam going on.

I personally found the OP very refreshing, honest and unlike yours quite polite and respectful. Maybe something irked you here, i'm not quite sure what.

Islam, Christianity and all other religions are pretty much the same...I rly don't get how someone (99% of ppl?) can believe into invisible man who lives in the sky..How many humans have died for false promises? How many wars and suffering?

Since we are talking about Islam here, I believe people should be free to do whatever they want as long as they don't hurt anyone. Islam with all it's rules and crazy interpretations is not smth people should still follow in 21st century.

There is only one religion that makes sense...it's called science.

I had never learned to make a distinction between militant Islam and the general Muslim population.

That's a great lesson I wish more of our countrymen could learn. I myself lived in Saudi Arabia (when I was a teen) for a couple of years (Riyadh, to be precise). The average muslim could care less what is going on beyond the bounds of their family, and simply try to be good people within their faith. It's the vocal, extremist minority that get all of the airtime though, so this is the ONLY face of Islam many ever see.

Now, I can't offer the same "respect" for Islam...but I can offer "tolerance". Frankly, I find the level of control of private lives and their treatment of women rather off-putting, however most muslims revere gentleness and hospitality, vs. any kind of wish for Jihad.

Something to note though, even the most gentle still believe that they are right, and all others are wrong. Of course, this view is not restricted to just Islam, but to any exclusivist religion (including Christianity). For the most parts, in most muslim countries though, Islam is the state religion, and others are not permitted (such as temples, churches, etc.), so something to be aware of when visiting.

So, you are saying 'Morocco' is a great place to visit? I'm sure it is a great place to visit but this doesnt mean that all muslims wherever they go in the World need to set up their own society within another society which was already there....

Of course in Morocco it's going to be great to visit... lots of ancient craft & buildings and such....

Anyway, if there was no religion, you wouldn't even go on holiday thinking about that.... you would just go and have a great time!!

This post was about a trip to Morocco that I took. And while I was there, I changed my mind about what it was like to visit a Muslim country. I realized my preconceived notions were wrong.

I wasn't trying to be a poster child for Islam.

I wasn't trying to run PR for the Muslim tourism board.

I was merely discussing my trip, and pointed out that experience is the great teacher.

Alright, geniuses...everybody who has ever traveled knows that Morocco has been a westernized country for decades. It has been a tourist destination for decades. You guys aren't pointing out anything that anybody on these forums doesn't already know.

Morocco has not been identified as a nation-state that encourages, fosters or supports terrorism. Who ever said it had been? It is known as a country that contains MODERATE muslims who have embraced peace and the western way of life.

Furthermore, I'm wondering how many of you world travelers would do walking around in the swat valley or in the pakistani highlands without an operational SEAL platoon. Those EXTREMIST hadjis would cut your heads off and drink your blood with their morning tea. Those people hate you and everything you stand for to the depths of their souls. THEY HATE YOU BECAUSE THEIR RELIGION TELLS THEM TO. They would sell their children for the opportunity to detonate a nuclear device in downtown Toledo. Or Bern. Or Munich. Or NYC.

Get over yourselves. None of you are exempt from reality. You are not special. You do not know anything that others haven't figured out a long time ago. Wake up.

The OP is trying to right a wrong with a little bit of information. The wrong that needed righting is an actual phenomenon with potentially serious consequences in places like the USA where far too many people have a very lopsided, irrationally negative view pertaining to all Muslims and all of Islam.

People there see everything as totally black, whereas the reality is, it is not. People need to be told that message. Lots of those people are on here, ATS. ATS is a good place to counter the ignorance ... supposedly.

Even if it is true for some, what does this have to do with the millions of Muslims who don't interpret their religion that way? I don't need to talk to them all to know they are definitely in the majority.

You can shout (capital letters) all you want, but most readers will see that you are just hate mongering and simply don't have the facts. No amount of evidence to the contrary will help someone who is invested in their hate.

I still believe this thread will help some people to get a better idea of how this world really is.

Listen, kids...do yourselves a favor. Study a little bit about الوهابية , muwahhidun, or what you might hear on MTV news as Al-Wahhābīyya.

Then you sort of get close to the fundamentalist imams that these follow and pay homage to.
