I would have to agree there, I actually couldn't bring myself to finish reading his posts and skipped to the replies to see if there was anything interesting after about 2 sentences because I couldn't stand the writing style. Just a friendly tip to help make future posts more readable. Sorry for the somewhat off topic post. Other than that though, I agree it was probably just a star changing colors. As far as the fast moving object, best guess would have to be a shooting star, but since you are the only one who saw it, then really thats all it is is a guess.

I am talking about the last star in the handle of the little dipper. I see it every night and it flashes different colors.

Hmm....well yeah that is Polaris. But it's still not anywhere near Orion like the OP was referring to. You must have really good eyes and/or are in a very dark location, because to me Polaris is not that impressive.

I am in a very dark area. I have a great view of the skies. About a month ago, I saw a huge fireball (meteor) break up into fragments. It was awesome.

I can see Polaris to the east and about 3 a.m. EST it starts to twinkle like crazy. One morning it changed from red to blue constantly.

You must not have followed the link I included about Polaris. If you had you would have read that:

"The North Star or Pole Star – aka Polaris – is famous for holding nearly still in our sky while the entire northern sky moves around it."

It is not possible that you are seeing Polaris in the east. It never moves from it's location in the north. From the time you described you are most likely seeing Sirius.

To all those that say it is a star that was around Orion's Belt... Stars don't move planets do, satellites move, meteors move, but not stars. Ever since I noticed this piticular object I haven't been able to locate it. Why is that? If it was a star it would b there every night. To the fellow that made the comment about it being gases, wouldn't it affect the surrounding stars.
