as i scan the posts and threads of ATS i see a couple of "people" here and there that claim they are "not from here" now im not saying they are but if your going to be saying things like that you need to put more than just "your word" on here for anyone to believe it. i personally dont believe it and i would like to hear some other peoples opinions on this matter as well. im sure this actually aggrivates a lot of people because the one that are lying about it make the ones that POSSIBLY are not from here harder to believe. Now... i understand you not being able to say how you got here, what you are, who you are... but at the very least you could explain WHY you are on here and WHY you are coming out with it... it wouldn't compromise you it would simply let people know what they need to know without exposing yourself

IF YOU AGREE WITH ME FLAG THIS THREAD

I can agree with that. If you claim it, then a few words or info about it is an acceptable request. Flagged

Why would it matter to anyone what anyone else believes? Your belief in something doesn't make it any more or any less true. When someone knows something to be true, it's really all the same whether they have confirmation from anyone else or not. Many times online I've been told that I cannot be female. Can I not? Really? Hmm.

Just because something is not mainstream yet doesn't make it so. Take super-string theory, or even just string theory. They are considered quite a fringe science and basically a load of rubbish, even by (too many) physicists. Does that make them untrue? Does the science we currently hold true become true because it is widely believed to be so? Not at all. Virtually on a daily basis, we find that our old beliefs completely overturned, but we can't rewrite all of our text books as soon as a new discovery is made or a new (and perhaps even correct) idea comes to light. The fact that we walk around with archaic information in our heads doesn't bother most people though. That doesn't make the information they have at all correct or true.

As for being extraterrestrial, why could this not be true? You can't say that extraterrestrials don't exist because you do not know this to be true. You might wish for this to be the case so that you feel safer, but that doesn't make it so any more than wishing there aren't any evil-doers in your general vicinity. There are and there's probably not a lot you can do about it. There are extraterrestrials and to think that they aren't here because we aren't yet able to make it off our own planet just doesn't make any sense.

Perhaps you could listen to what these people have to say to you. Perhaps you could think that maybe there's something you could learn from them regardless of what that thing might be. Maybe they are full of tosh, but that doesn't preclude a message or lesson for you to learn through their communication with you.

Ask yourself why you hold so tightly to the things you believe and why "untrue" claims threaten you. Things are seldom what they seem to be, once you scratch the surface.

I totally agree. I am ready for some solid proof. I believe that we are not alone in this universe and that this planet has been "visited" and is currently being slowly prepared for a "global" revalation as to the exsistance of intergalatic visitors umong us. I would like to hear from one of these visitors and have them offer up some credible proof to back there story.

I think that a lot of the people you are talking about think that they are infact a reincarnated ET soul or that they have an ET soul in them (Maybe possessed) I think a lot of these people may also instead think that their higher self or guardian angel is ET. All I said above I think would make it a bit easier for people to believe than how you mention these people. Although I can definitely see where you are coming from I think that it is hard to get a real image of the person making these claims on a forum, It would be a lot easier to make a judgement based on their real life person.

And again -- opinions? Why? The only opinion that matters is yours and that only matters to you. Here's an example of what I mean: I've been in the workforce for over thirty years. I've had a lot of bosses in my day, some of them taught me quite a lot but many of them, sadly, were only concerned about their promotions and making sure that no one below them looked good enough to promote as that would threaten the boss's image *somehow*. They had very skewed views of things. My job, my productivity, my value was viewed through their prejudiced lenses. Other opinions have value only when you don't fully trust your own abilities to assess any given thing. And at the end of the day, what do you have to lose by letting people believe or know what they believe or know? You can still learn something not only about them but about yourself too. Who of us is in a position to have the right to judge others? When we exclude most of the information our surroundings offer us, how do we presume to think we can accurately assess our own situation, let alone those of others?

Open your mind, open your heart. Learn more before you aspire to the lofty heights of looking askance at others. Be kind and gentle toward those with a different perspective. They hold golden keys to your Self.

Many of the people who claim they are aliens on this forum do actually give reasons why they are here and they are every bit as outlandish and flawed as their original claim. It's pointless. People with this 'condition' don't know how to tell the truth. One lie simply compounds into many. The best thing one can do with them is simply ignore them. If you don't give them the attention they so desperately seek, they shrivel up and go away.

Why do you want flags?

There are no woman on the internet, therefore it is indisputable fact, that you cannot be a woman :p

In seriousness, I don't believe anyone, that claims facts and doesn't back it up with decent sources. Opinion is one thing, but fact is quite another. People can say whatever they want however, just don't expect critical thinking people to take your word as fact, without proving it.

Flags denote what members would consider an important topic. The more flags, the greater the rating. Generally you'll will get just as many, if not more, if you don't ask for them.

So what if ET appeared right now undeniably and told us that every single bit of science we think we know and understand is entirely, completely wrong. What would you believe then?

Why would we default to believing an alien? Smart people would reserve judgement and fools would blindly follow.

I would hold an alien to the same that I would hold a human. If he could prove it then he would have my support. Who is to say aliens don't lie?

I couldn't agree more. In fact, it was the claims of John Titor that got me interested in quantum physics in the first place. For those of you that don't know the legend, he was someone who appeared on the net for about 6 months claiming to be a time traveler.
He probably wasn't. But whoever he was, he was a very intelligent person. The way he described the LHC 8 years before it was fired up, was eerie. He even said that in his time line that it broke down when they first fired it up. This actually occurred in our timeline.
The point I'm trying to make is not rather I believe he was a time traveler or not...the point is that even if he wasn't, he got me interested in learning something new. This is how we move forward. By sparking ideas and the thirst for knowledge in each other.
And by the way, @ the original poster: There is no way that anyone can prove to another person that they are NOT an alien. Let that sizzle in your brain for a while, lol. I mean this respectfully. I had a mental breakdown because of that thought.

One of my favorite answers to a question. No matter what we learn, it is our lone responsibility to guard our own sanity.
And I don't know for certain, but I'm pretty sure that the day is coming when we will realize what the ancient saying says is true, and that is that the beginning of knowledge, is to realize that we know nothing.
