I have been a member of ATS for a few years now, i don't make myself known too much, i like to observe and pop in with my own little take on the situation, i'm not a big player. Like I say i'm an observer...

I came into ATS off the back of the Serpo saga that seemed to span hundreds of pages, I wasn't referred to ATS from anywhere else, I literally stumbled into it from my interest in the UFO subject. Project serpo wasn't the reason why i stayed though, I knew it was horse crap because devoted members here broke it down piece by piece. Don't reply to me regarding anything to do with Serpo, it's dead and long buried.

The reason why i'm posting this thread is that I am tired.. I have loyally looked every day without fail here for 3 years, every now and again something will spike my attention. It's not from my greed to have all the answers, or to spin some footage that I might have found on Youtube.

For the first couple or so years it was mainly healthy when i came on here, there was a good stock of members that I could recognise when i logged on, but now I come on and i barely know anybody.

It's saturated with new threads that mean absolutely nothing, even anything with a good basis for discussion is very quickly taken down to it's most basic level by members who don't give a # (I'll take my first warning for that) members who don't care about constructive criticism, they are just here to add fuel to the fire that everybody want's to control. I'm sick of it.

Is this a result of too many cooks spoil the broth? the success of abovetopsecret.com? It feels watered down to what it used to be. Please help me fellow members of the past that are still here to make me hold onto this site, because you know? i have nowhere else to go....

ahhh another "Ats no longer rocks, im leaving" thread.

whats that the 5th one since monday?

not putting you down man, but there are a lot of threads like this, i dont really see the point to them, if you dont like the content here, dont visit the site, if you dont like some subjects still visit the site just avoid those subjects.

complaining about how you dont like the new users or the content isnt going to change anything.

... somehow I feel guilty just because I'm new
.

How about you brainstorm 5 of your favorite topics and let's see if someone want to join you in what would be some fabulous discussions

I never ever said i was leaving, I don't think I can to be honest, it's easy to say if you don't like it then leave, and if not stay, i'm not moaning or asking for sympathy, i'm just stating the way i feel

Perhaps you have outgrown this place. Maybe the information you have gleaned has helped you to focus your direction, as it has done for me. There are a few posters here I like to keep up with and I think their information is interesting and reputable because they document their information from non-biased sources.

There will always be a few surprises here. Maybe have some of your buds that are like minded scout threads that would interest you and give you a heads up message while you are away.

guess i just didn’t interpret your thread title the way you intended then, most times when someone says something along the lines of "I’m not sure I can do this anymore" it means there leaving.

Don't worry about it. This stuff goes in cycles. Sometimes it's more noise than signal. Sometimes there's just nothing happening of interest. Sometimes you just get tired. I've had an interest in this stuff for more than 40 years. Every once in a while, you just have to take a break from it. You can come back when you get your energy back up.

There are some other forums out there. I've been thinking about spending more time in the Open Minds forum, for instance. That's a nice, low volume site with more serious discussions. And if you want to subscribe, there's always the UFO Updates List, where you can argue directly with some of the old school UFO guys.

52 - Kên - Keeping Still, Mountain
The Judgement -- Keeping Still. Keeping his back still so that he no longer feels his body. He goes into his courtyard and does not see his people. No blame.
The Image -- Mountains standing close together: The image of Keeping Still. Thus the superior man does not permit his thoughts to go beyond his situation.

I haven't been visiting as much as I used to. I also noticed a lot of new members on here and haven't seen as much of the old members that I used to follow. The topics don't seem to last as long as they used to. I have seen new members add some new takes on older threads that died out. I see the newer members as a good thing as they will make sure that this site won't die out. Maybe you just need to look through your previous interests and find similar threads that you may have missed. I have been finding connections that weren't apparent the first time I looked. Also I took a step back when I found myself becoming emotionally involved and treated this whole thing as entertainment. I hope you don't quit though.

It's not even a case of those types of members, i hate having to filter through pages and pages of trolling, the Moderators here were so smart and quick it smacked it down, now i can't see many at all

i do understand were your coming from october, but look at it like this,it's a wider audience,to share our research and ideas and findings,so we have to be thankfull for that really, plus for every 100 new members, one of them would be a gold nugget of a member with new research and finding or answers we been looking for,if we was to close our doors then all our effort time and work is pointless.

I like this place, its nice to find some convincing footage and do some research on it. I have never done this type of stuff before and its nice to know the truth by reading both sides of the stories.

Although I do agree, with the ridicule and jokes I find in threads. That are just worthless spam ( IMO ) that has nothing to contribute to the thread.

Wow, I can't believe no one has mentioned Chinese Lanterns or Airplanes yet. That's a first.

What is the point of making that type of comment ? I don't see any logic behind it. I ignore it, but it really gets to me.

Its a difficult one, i know what you mean about the site feeling like a watered down version of old times, but then again this site owes its existance to the members.

Yes its success and progress makes the site more attractive and easier to use, but at the end of the day, its what appears in the threads that counts.

Only we can do that.

So i urge people that are fed up not to leave, but to contribute more. Yes i know its hard matching some of the incredible threads seen in the past, but the authors of those threads had to start somewhere too.

Some people are not as passionate about the subjects we discuss as others. They are happy to read great threads, but not to create them.

Someone once said, be the change you want to see. Good quote there.

As for the less desirables that come along now and again, i firmly believe we have the best site on the net for dealing with people like that.

In other words, take a break, and maybe think about contributing more. You're not someone who finds it impossible to write good posts, so your staying would be a bonus.....your leaving or sitting in the background would be a shame.

Unfortunately, just like with the USA in general on just about any subject, the people are deeply divided on nearly every issue.

I believe the main stream media is attempting to heavily divide people's opinions (as per the fake rivalry between CNN/FOX News) for some alterior motive, and it's spilling over into sites like this.

I to was tired of seeing so much nonsense here i logged out october 13 of 2008 and after 2 years came back. The weird thing was when i came back, It was oct.13 2010. It was like i never left. I see the same types of threads being posted. Must be this time of year is bad for that.

I to will always come back here because there are still good threads to learn from. If a thread gets destroyed because of bickering and such, I will only give my opinion and leave it. Im not that good at presenting things to the site, So lurking and adding my 2 cents is what i do most.

So my advice would be to stick it out and the long time members will always be here. Just have to spend more time sorting through threads to find well thought out and presented threads.

Yes i have never been a massive "Breaking news" poster, i have tried to be honest, posted and realised that it's old news and been covered before, that's fine though, it's part and parcel of discovery no?

I know how you feel, but I can not count how many times I've seen ATS members say, "This is what I come to ATS for!!". I have said it to myself more than a few times, too.

I came here while searching about ancient atrifacts, and WOW, I found out about so many other subjects that I would never have learned about otherwise, that are truely interesting to me. Just as in life, you have got to take the good with the bad. And what is a bad subject to me, may be what other members are really searching for in their quest for information or truth.

As for the new members...Bring 'em on!! lol Seriously, the more eyes, (and cameras), on whats going on all around us the better, is the way I see it. The same for opinions, even though it drives me nuts sometimes!

I hope you find something and come back here to share it with us so we can be amazed, interested, sceptical, (and tear it down so badly that you wish you never brought it here in the first place, sadly enough...)
