This is my first post on the forum, I have been lurking for a while but felt the need to post a bit about myself and my experiences.
I have never been someone who believes in religion but I am open minded and have read about most religions and practices out of curiosity. And still I dont believe.

I have lived my life on morality, instincts and feelings and this has done me well throughout my life, getting me to the top job at 28 years old on a great wage before I left due to wanting more free time and less pressure. I am a happy and very positive individual, (engaged with a baby boy due on christmas day of all days), but I have always felt awfully Self-consciousness in groups and to an extent preffer my own privacy. I am now 35.

ANYWAY over the last few months I have been feeling that something aint right? That something is happening or changing or going on? Now I am not usually foolish and jump into things but I have found myself purchasing NBC suits and am in process of getting Gas Masks, I am still not convinced that something is imminent, BUT I am purchasing these items, so subconsciously, instinctively I must believe that something is imminent?

How stupid does this sound?

Not to be offensive, but it sounds VERY stupid. I would check with a doctor. You cold be just dealing with depression. Get a blood test done. That you quit such a good job at a young age makes me think you might have some mental instability.

See a Dr and good luck

I would not worry about it. Just get on with your life if you can, and no one is harming or hindering you.

I would not worry.

Welcome to ATS blaenau2000.

Every once in a while, some of us, including me has gone through what you are going through. There is nothing wrong with your thinking, its just called thinking ahead, "just in case". Baba Vanga made some predictions and November is closing in on possible small skirmishes. Obviously something will happen within the next few years, especially because of Baba Vanga's predictions, and because of the Mayan calendar.

The problem with Baba Vanga's predictions is that she predicted the Muslims would do something terrible and that they would take over Europe basically by using chemicals. The Muslims you can bet are well aware of her predictions and that seemingly they might be able to pull off her predictions. So.... being prepared is not a bad thing. People tend to get greedy if someone predicts a successful outcome for them, if that predicter has been right in the past.

As for the Mayan calendar it has always been correct, so we can expect something to happen around the era of December 21, 2012.

As for you blaenau2000, you are a smart person. Gut feelings are often right. If they aren't, then so much the better; but if they are correct, then you are better off prepared.

I'd say you should probably take some time away from ATS. I find if you spend too much time on here, you can't help but get paranoid or anxious. I took some time off for a while and I felt less negative. Sometimes what you don't know can't hurt you. Also a talk with a mental health expert probably would help. No offense.

Do you have sources for this or are you on a regular speaking basis with the Mayans?

I'd trust your gut feeling. There are many, many folks out there that have the same feeling. I count myself among them. Count yourself lucky to be living near a largish wilderness area that you can head to if things get really bad. Don't let anyone deter you from preparing for the worst for you and your family. If the worst never happens, you will lose nothing but a handful of cash, that is losing it's value daily anyway. If the worst does happen, then the very people posing negative comments here will be the ones taking the brunt of whatever may be coming, while you and yours will have an advantage from you having hedged your bets. Good luck to you and yours.

The problem I see with Baba is that it's all a load of BS. Why would you say this stuff? Granted maybe the OP is full of it, so it doesn't matter what you say. But what if this person really having issues, you just compound them with this mumbo jumbo.

I am Male, I am the father.
I quit the top job for a healthier life, and feel much better for it. And there are not any mental health issues, infact that is the line of my work.
And i am not depressed as i do love life, even the tiny things in life make me happy. I am so positive i can take positives out of negatives.

And thats the thing, so why would I feel the desperate need to stock up on NBC suits and supplies?
It is very strange, as my gut feelings have got me where I am today, So I cant ignore them?

Anyhow I am stocking up, I cant not do anything otherwise I would be betraying myself, thats how i feel.

First thank you for being open and not afraid of some of the rash criticism that occurs on this site.

it seems a lot of people lately have been having a gut feeling that something big is going on. Unfortunately the only thing to do in this kind of situation is to wait and see if something really is going to happen.

Once again thank you.

Anyhow I am stocking up, I cant not do anything otherwise I would be betraying myself, thats how i feel.

Good for you, do what you feel is right and going to help you most in the long run. If it was me having these feelings I would really want to be prepared for whatever was coming even if I wasn't sure what 'it' is.

OK. Thanks for letting us know. Just keep in touch and let us know how that's all working out for you. My guess is your either kidding this group or your losing your mind. Do you drink or take drugs?

I agree with the guy above me. Trust your instincts, but take them in stride. It's good to be prepared for the worst, but hope for the best.

My bad. I should have realized this when you mentioned purchasing NBC suits and in the process of getting Gas Masks. A pregnant woman would have been more concerned about stocking up on baby formula and diapers.

Not stupid at all, follow your heart in all matter and deal with your mind. It may be depression a little but the consciousness will nag at you until you confront your reality. You dont need drugs, sex or liquor but I hope you dont get mad when I see yo will need God. Forget church and support groups they cannot approach your form of disbalance with their interpretations of scripture and likewise advice from experience; you need to re-claim something higher than you to ease the weight off of you. You are not Atlas so dont bother. This imminent thing can be your son and the future of your family with you new found path.... remember "change is inevitable growth is optional"

I'm feeling it too, and what I'm feeling is some sort of virus or plague to be released, just not sure when

I was actually chatting to someone close to me on this site about this a week or so ago, and it doesn't suprise me that certain other members are sensing it too.

I really hope I'm wrong....

blaenau2000 is not having issues. blaenau2000 is a smart man, he is following his gut instincts of survival of the fittest. There are many survivalists and survivalist threads here on ATS. There is nothing wrong with being prepared, especially when it costs a person very little to get prepared. blaenau2000 is a good man, he is making sure that his family will live through anything, in case something happens. IF it doesn't happen, then who cares.

As for Baba Vanga, her predictions were or are pretty good. It is well known that world leaders consulted her, because she was that good at making correct predictions. Her Kursk prediction really rocked the boat, so to speak, when it came true.

Hi blaenau2000,

I'm right there with you in regards to feeling change is in the air, but who knows what it could be. I'd say there is nothing wrong with being prepared for changes, whether they be personal or societal. This year I have started replacing and updating all my camping equipment, picked up a decent shotgun for hunting, and have been getting in better shape, but not because I think some major catastrophe is on its way, but because it's always good to have that stuff around and to take care of yourself. Go with your instincts and do what feels right for you, but also try to keep a level head in regards to how far to go with things. You don't want to have to haul 10,000 lbs of gear around if you need to leave the area

I have to disagree with you. Someone that paranoid could be doing some serious damage to the children. As for Baba, NOTHING she predicted was verbatim. As usually is the case with predictions, they are so vague that anyone could interpert anything out of them.

I once again suggest this man to seek a Dr to get some blood work done and to talk with a therapist.

If he is right, and a good religous man (which is often the case with "survivalist") then if something happens and you die, you'll be in a better place. Sure enough a MUCH better place than a place where you live in a cave and have to wear gas masks and NBC suits.
