China Lake Robotic test track

I came across this on the google earth BBS. It shows an area just south of the China Lake Death Valley border not far from the ghost town of Darwin.

If you go exploring out there, use caution. Death Valley itself has it's share of danger. Top that off with the border not being clearly marked and security from China Lake apparently very diligent.

I've seen that before on GE and looked it up and came across the same post. It is very interesting. Oddly enough that's one thing I never heard about in my time in Ridgecrest.

Looks like your best view would be on Ophir Rd. just south of Darwin.

If you play with the history tab, going back one step gets a new image. Probably a bug in GE. You see more structures on the newer imagery, so the place is quite dynamic.

Yes GE has a "bug" that causes the latest image.. to not be the latest. I have it set by default now to be on the 2nd newest image.
