Foreign Ministry to Vatican: Don't revive ancient scripture dispute

Foreign Ministry spokeman Yigal Palmor responded to the synod of Roman Catholic bishops for the Middle East, saying theological disputes over the interpretation of the holy scriptures disappeared with the Middle Ages, adding that "It doesn't seem like a wise move to revive them."

Why isn't it wise for these disputes to be revived? What do they know that we don't? Now, I'm not trying to offend anybody, but I think all major religions have been misinterpreted over time. In my resarch about religion I've personaly have found some major discrepancy in modern relgion today. If people actually took the time to read the ancient text (before it was misinterpreted) and how their dogma came to be...many people would begin to doubt what they believe now. Anyways, thats just my two cents.

Not surprised. This comes from the same denomination of Christianity that (among other far more grotesque atrocities) used chain the Bible to the pulpit at the front of the church and then only read mass in Latin so that the parishioners really had no idea what the hell was being read/said.

Hmmm why should people question this book written for clan foklore tales to establish regional power bases millenia ago?
I personally dont see how you can misintepret being told to kill your children, neighbours and gays.....even poor flat nosed people cant pray to god and heaven help you if you even think of blending your cottons in your shirt, a swift slap or even death may befall you

I personally cant see why everyone doesn't follow this book to the letter of the law......more intepretations i say! on a book that is just a semi-historical record (and lets face it, very silly at times) on a clans thoughts and moral code that for some reason we teach our kids we should be living by their rules??? puzzling,

Most scripture have been deeply corrupted through time, and mixed with culture.

The evidence is clear.

Scriptures are suppose to guide us towards wisdom, it isn't suppose to tell us how to live. We decide how to live, then we find out whether the way we lived is right or wrong, then learn from it.

History is to learn from, not to copy.

So true lol its damn right funny how everyone is falling for this crap. Religion must be done away with for good, buried with all the prophets/profits too. All religious leaders should be made to prove their faiths by show of miracle, peace would be one, or face severe punishment. Punishment for things like conspiracy for whatever God inspired acts their falsely interpreted "beliefs" have incurred through their followers. Think about it, if you cannot prove what you are teaching is correct you shouldnt be teaching it. ITS POISON!
