the man disappearing in front of two witnesses got me, just makes you wonder, many people go missing never to be seen again and no trace of what happened, which would of been the case with this man if two people were not there to see it.

It seems a lot like this story, which I learned about when I was younger (from books about 'The Mysterious'), but that later, I learned, seemed to have been inspired by a work of fiction:
David Lang and Oliver Larch
But I do wonder, though, if there was a progenitor story that these tales spawned from.edit on 24-10-2010 by autobono because: c-c-c-clarifying!

its quite a popular dog walking spot, not that dangerous i would think.
researched it a little after posting earlier and found something about minks and badgers. theres supposed to be a lot of them around that area under the bridge. thats why a lot of them jump off the same area and its usually the long nosed variety (better sense of smell i suppose).
still doesnt explain the suicide. find the whole thing a little odd though
ill take a drive up tomorrow afternoon, take some pics and see what the place is like and make a thread bout it tomorrow night. from the pics ive seen it does look quite spooky.

There have actually been several cases of this nature in history, even in modern times.
One of those cases in modern times, involved a woman jogging in a track in the woods in a mountain area in Australia, wellknown for its many mysterious disappearences. Oh what was its name again... Darn, it, I do not recall it for the moment, but anyways: The woman was out running. I THINK she had a companion with her running shortly behind her. All of the sudden, she just disappeared. People was looking for her everywhere and the area where she was last seen was minutely searched through, Despite this, not one trace of her were found.
Untill several months later, when her body was re-found on the exact same spot on the same track she had disappeared. The strangest thing was that the body- despite several months having past in warm climate- looked as if she had just died and showed no signs of decomposition.
There have been other similar cases of disappearences in Australia, interestingly enough. One of them happened during the late 1800's, I believe, when a woman was sitting in her garden, near a forest, and suddenly saw a young boy coming stumbling and halfrunning, as if escaping from something, out of the opening of the woods. He seemed almost delirious and was waving his arms around him as if fighting something, while he was shouting; "Get away from me, you...Things!"
Then, as he passed behind a tree, he just disappeared and was never seen again.
The world is filled with mysteries.

The gnome is a midget in costume.
Unsecured hazardous materials cargo Bainton and others hypothesize that the Ourang Medan might have been involved in smuggling operations of chemical substances such as a combination of potassium cyanide and nitroglycerin or even wartime stocks of nerve agents. According to these theories, sea water would have entered the ship's hold, reacting with the cargo to release toxic gases, which then caused the crew to succumb to asphyxia and/or poisoning. Later, the sea water would have reacted with the nitroglycerin, causing the reported fire and explosion.[1]
The Toynbee tiles are messages of mysterious origin found embedded in asphalt in about two dozen major cities in the United States and three South American capitals. Since the 1980s, several hundred tiles have been discovered. They are generally about the size of an American license plate, but sometimes considerably larger. They contain some variation on the following inscription: TOYNBEE IDEA IN KUBRICK’S 2001 RESURRECT DEAD ON PLANET JUPITER. The majority of tiles contain text similar to that above, although a second set is often found nearby. Several of these allude to a mass conspiracy between the press (including newspaper magnate John S. Knight of Knight-Ridder), the U.S. government, the USSR (even in tiles seemingly made years after the Soviet Union’s dissolution), and Jews. The writing is of a similar style and poor quality. A tile that used to be located in Santiago de Chile mentions a street address in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: 2624 S. 7th Philadelphia, PA. The current occupants of the house know nothing about the tiles and are annoyed by people who ask.
