You first... you still haven't applied your criteria to yourself.
I honestly cannot tell you who I am because of the line of work I am involved in. If I were to tell you who I am there are many things that would happen to me and they would not be good. If you read my thread about HAARP you can see my career in that thread.

You said it yourself.

A person's level of anonymity is directly related to how much they have to lose and how much they care about losing it.
I, for example, do not go around on the forums and tell everyone my real name, but I don't hide it either. It is easily gathered by anyone willing to do a bit of digging.
I also don't really care if my employer sees my ATS activities. I don't broadcast who I work for and I don't speak badly of them, but that is out of respect for the organization that pays my bills.
Beyond that, even if I had the most ground breaking, earth shattering news ever and I posted it with my real name, it still would not matte much without tangible proof of the events behind the news. A person's name is irrelevant to the nature of the truth.

so they can speak their mind with fellow strangers without having their every thought easily found and attributed to them through google, by their friends, family or employers.

Maybe it is or maybe its called being smart to be selective with whom you share certain opinions. I can complain to my family all I want that I think my boss is a jerk, but to express it directly to his face or in a manner that would get back to him, well it probably wouldn't fair to well for me.
I have certain family members that I love dearly but we have very different ideas on politics, and if I were to share some of my opinions with them, it would cause a huge argument, and since I value the time I spend with them I would rather keep my opinions to myself since I am not going to convince them and they are not going to convince me.
I have a friend who I can speak freely about my boss and my political beliefs, but she is extremely passionate about her religious beliefs so I am willing to placate her by listening and keep my mouth shut about what I really think because it would only hurt her and drive a wedge between our friendship.

Who knows? But I would like to know why is it when you call someone out, or in a more specific case, you politely with no verbal abuse call someone out in their ignorance, and ATS jumps in without cause and not only deletes a post or comment, then fines you with these make believe ATS points! What a laughing stock this site has become!

ATS is way to strict and why do our points matter? we cant use them for anything and we cant trade them in for cash and we definitley cant do anything but sit at our comp and LOOK AT THEM.

Have I got DE-JA-VU?
I am pretty certain another member asked this a couple of weeks ago.
I don't want to give my rel name because it is no-ones business. If I met anyone here in real life I would discuss my views but I don't want to be on record.
Why does this question keep being posed?

I would call you a troll and cointel agent, why do I remain anonymous? Because I worked for the department of defense long enough to realize that they would indeed make a website like this, or hire kids to patrol websites like this to encourage or subvert its members to release personal information about themselves. This would be in order to build a list of individuals who need to go to the big black whole that I know for a fact exists in various places, including out to sea where there is no jurisdiction.
Hopefully the moderators are smart enough to realize what you are, the fact you have been a member for a week and 2 days, and you are already trying to blackball members into giving up their identities. You don't have to ask people to try and get them to do what you want, Mr Smith.
