NASA and DARPA Plan 'Hundred-Year Starship' To Bring Humans to Other Worlds And Leave Them There Forever

www.popsci.com

If NASA ever gets a clear directive for interplanetary exploration, a new Hundred-Year Starship could be their version of the Mayflower.

And like the first pilgrims, Martian explorers might set sail with the knowledge they would never return home.

NASA and DARPA have joined forces to build something called a Hundred-Year Starship, according to the director of NASA’s Ames Research Center.

Simon “Pete” Worden said NASA contributed $100,000 to the project and DARPA kicked in $1 million.

Is it any surprise that N.A.S.A. and D.A.R.P.A. have teamed up for this project?

Between going into outer-space and defense related expenditures I can see the dollar signs rolling around, secret slush funds, private vacations, and whatnot funding this project.

From Halo to Enders Game to Starship Troopers most ATS'ers have dreamed of this type of event coming with interplanetary colonization from the Moon to Mars and beyond.

I would have zero issues with never coming back.

I would however have an issue with not being a leader.

I was born to lead.

I think this has been planned for decades.

Since the inception of N.A.S.A. with the German and Russian scientists through Operation Paperclip.

Funding is something which has a public face and a secret slush fund aspect to it.

Another government money pit.

How much have they spent to go back to the moon?

6 billion dollars.

What have they got?

Nothing.

The children born today their Grandchildren will not even she their grandchildren acheive this.

They'll all be living in caves by then.

I think just about anyone would at this point.

And that might have been a calculated measure.

Advance planning of course is a part of leadership and Government.

Screw the problems on this planet ,lets spend all our time and money on travelling through space looking for somewhere else to enforce our righteous ways.Onwards and upwards!

-what? ah, that! it's the spaceship to coverup our space programs

I also would go, and by the looks of this thread I'd have a few people with me who I'd enjoy the company of.

So, HEY NASA/DARPA send me the proper slip to sign so I can get away from Earth's petty little problems and all the noise.

Well isn't that a coincidence

I just did a thread on a similar story, though my article was from 1978 Air University Review, January-February 1978

maybe that will be the NWO agenda... shanghai people and stuff em on space crafts out bound to the colonies to man those mines

Ever see the movie "Moon" from last year? It's a pretty interesting yet depressing perception of corporate expansion to the moon to harvest energy.

Exploring space is much more fun than wars so let's quit warring and start exploring. Mars gives me a boner. War does not.

First off, you didn't even reserve a seat in this thread! I'm shocked...

Secondly...what if they put a billion people on a big space-boat and then "accidently" hit a big space-iceberg?

Screw it...I still want to go...better to die in space with SpartanKing then to wither away on this old rock.

But it was too late.

Maybe the craft will be built in orbit so it would be easier to launch.

I would miss my family. I will stay here.

from the article:

Still, getting there would Still, getting there would require an advanced propulsion system that could get off the ground with minimal fuel and land safely. Captain Spartan, we have yet another crew member flipping out...should we have him report to the termination center on Dock-1B or should I just put this one down myself, sir?

He's freaking out the other passengers.
