Canadian wants estranged wife deported

ca.news.yahoo.com

"They only push me down, because she have lawyers [one for immigration, another for family court]," said Volik. "I do not have lawyer now. I can't afford it."

Because Lisovska has no steady means of support in Canada, the court ordered Volik in February to pay her $1,200 a month in spousal support. His take-home pay is $1,271 every two weeks.

"$1,200 a month!" said Volik. "More money than I have in my pocket. I have an absolutely terrible situation. My debt now is $65,000 two years' wages because of this."

Man! I can`t imagine what this poor guy is going through, he tried to be generous, got into a fraud, can loose half of his assets, living with a $65,000 debt, paying $1,200 a month, he makes that in 2 weeks, all because of a fraud, a damn ***** who caused this poor man his life and ruining his future, the Canadian Government should not act so stubborn and THIS generous in this matter, give this really innocent guy a break!

I agree with you, this is heartless behavior, but he should have no say about her deportation, nor should he be penalized so severely either. Unfortunately they rate people's basic survival needs to a welfare check for a single person, so anything over 600 dollars say, is fair game to them, and the court system obliges. An aquaintance, was divorced and his wife ended up having a breakdown for 1-2 years, and for a long time all of his children, perhaps 5, where in foster care, so they took this off his wage, leaving him peanuts to live on himself, he slept in his van for a couple years.

Why didn't HE take custody of his children? As hard luck stories go, you just outlined a story that leaves me feeling bad for his children and not him.

I'm sure they feel that way about you, or rather most have too much of a heart too. Wishing ill on others only falls as karma on yourself.

that was exactly what i was thinking. its easy to be monday morning quarterback, but in this case, the children are the victims. she's a fraud, yes. but he's not entirely of clean hands either. its too much to take a snippet without more information.
so say we all.

Really,..
well
I find out 18 years later, after many years of child support that the child I raised wasn't mine.
YOU need to rethink "karma"

That you can't see past that to a person who is your child in truth even if not in body because it effected your most precious thing - your wallet - is actually really really sad for you.

But everytime I see it, it sure makes me very very very thankful for the wonderful step parents I have.

True. I would also be very cautious about changing this, as if the courts were not involved there would be potential problems with persons who would bring in spouses from outside the country and then hold them hostage with threats of no financial support and returning them immediately to the country they took them from. Putting them back into a culture that may treat them very bad for being divorced or "put aside" by their spouse. The threat factor of removing them from the country and keeping their Canadian born children would be enough to cow many person into accepting horrendous behaviour.

We already have some problems with spouses who use language and culture barriers to isolate their immigrant spouses. A situation which I find reprehensible, and one of the best reasons I see for requiring that all immigrants recieve mandatory ESL/FSL training within a reasonable time period of landing.
