WikiLeaks says funding has been blocked after government blacklisting

www.guardian.co.uk

The whistleblowing group WikiLeaks claims that it has had its funding blocked and that it is the victim of financial warfare by the US government.

Moneybookers, a British-registered internet payment company that collects WikiLeaks donations, emailed the organisation to say it had closed down its account because it had been put on an official US watchlist and on an Australian government blacklist.

More in the ongoing saga of Wikileaks.

he says he was told in response by Daniel Stromberg, the Moneybookers e-commerce manager for the Nordic region: "When I did my regular overview of my customers, I noticed that something was wrong with your account and I emailed our risk and legal department to solve this issue.

"Below I have copied the answer I received from them: 'Hi Daniel, you can inform him that initially his account was suspended due to being accessed from a blacklisted IP address. However, following recent publicity and the subsequently addition of the WikiLeaks entity to blacklists in Australia and watchlists in the USA, we have terminated the business relationship.'"

Assange is saying this will likely cause a huge backlash on Moneybookers. What do you think? Do people still care?

Assange has failed to live up to what he claimed himself to be. He has failed to live up to what he wanted Wikileaks to be. I'm not taking sides on the issue, but for him to simply denounce the 9/11 truth movement as delusional conspiracy is outright nonsense and does not comply with everything else he and Wikileaks are supposedly standing up for; which is 'truth and justice'. Wikileaks has not provided any valuable leaks yet, nothing groundbreaking, despite claiming to. What they have proven to be affective at however, is hyping themselves and their supposed leaks.

I was a supporter early on... but more and more this is just looking like one massive, ingenious counter intelligence program. Whatever the truth behind them is, I don't care anymore, the idea is decaying... do something useful before its too late and you have no support at all.

Assange is a liar and a thief.

He should be on watchlists. He manipulates video to serve a purpose, then admits to manipulating it, and STILL people admire him.

I'd tell him where to cram his complaints about no funding, but then a moderator would slam me with a warning

This news is pretty alarming. It shows that the US government can kill every person economically without court, without constitutional laws. Of course this is not the first non-terrorist who was put on the blacklist but he's pretty popular and the majority of people does not consider him as an terrorist, but rather as someone who wants to stop the US government propaganda and bring the truth. Therefore this news is a bit alarming

It's time for the people who still believe in the US government propaganda to wake up! Obviously the US isn't a democracy anymore or has here anyone a different opinion? But unfortunately the EU countries are not considerable more democratic, but at least a bit democracy is still there.

the only thing alarming is the amount of support this guy has garnered from a bunch of people who CLAIM TO BE skeptics and truth seekers.

The guy admits to lying to you and you love him for it.

Wether or not this guy was a liar or not its really quite freaky that they can just shut down organisations so quickly.
They obviously caught on that he was trying to declare the truth (wether he actually was or not) and shut him down.
There planning to have the internet fully censored by 2011 in Australia, ive even heard of blacklists where truther websites have been blacklisted, not just your usual child porn websites. The internet has backfired on them
Lets just pray to god that ats stays up.

What was wikileaks supposed to be? As far as I know it is supposed to be and avenue for submitting material anonymously.

Funny, I thought he said he was annoyed with false conspiracies surrounding 911, I don't remember him saying that the 9/11 truth movement is delusional? is there a source for this?

And, we all know that there are false conspiracies surrounding 9/11. How? Because the conspiracies contradict one another, be it LIHOP, MIHOP, or no planes, it's impossible for them all to be true... Now I am sure there is more to 9/11 than the official story, but aren't you 'annoyed by false conspiracies'?

All I expect wikileaks to be, is a publisher for leaks. I don't expect them to take my side on a political issue or a conspiracy theory...

Without them, we would know less about the Afghan and Iraq wars, Internet censorship, Scientology, Guantanamo bay, the CRU scandal, and corrupt banks.

But yeah, let's all hate on Assange because he hasn't single handedly destroyed all evil in the world.

How exactly is he a Liar and a thief? I assume you are talking about the fact that Wikileaks have published releases for political impact?

This is the promise to the whistleblower, to carry out there best interest in emphasizing the reason for the leak.

They also have a promise to the public to release the full content of the leak, which they do.

They say they do this, so how is it lying?

And manipulating the video? Maybe I don't have the sources, but I thought all they did was edit clips to make them shorter (and tell us), and remove any sort of digital signatures which may expose the source?

Now thats journalism i can get behind

I realize that on a site full of self-proclaimed "skeptics", attacking Assange's credibility won't garner me much popularity, and that's completely fine. The guy is a hack, a self proclaimed hack, and it's hilarious to me that you all cuddle up near him in hopes for any table scraps he may throw your way.

He's rightfully been blacklisted. The government finally doing their job.

Damn all these "self-proclaimed skeptics", how dare they be skeptical when they haven't got their diploma of skepticism!! So what do we do without our diploma? I know, lets all cuddle up to Assange, because that's what a "skeptic" would do...... Now we can eat all the scraps!!! YAY!

I'm glad I can be your entertainment, seriously though, your post has no content and the source you posted just reinforces what I said.
