It is a well known fact that the seafloor under the North Sea has subsided because of oil exploration and extraction.
This "Deepwater" problem has for the first time allowed the outside world to see a the sea bed close up near an oil well, lots of "conspiracy theorists" are jumping up and down becuase they don't understand what may or ma not be happening.
And I am a "conspiracy theorist" with the best of them, but believe that we need to cut down the hysteria and start looking at things a bit more realistically.
Fissures in the ocean floors are very common, undersea volcanoes are found in many parts of the worlds oceasn and they can change the sea floor dramatically.
I have seen a submarine volcano erupt from something like 200 feet below the surface and after it died down the seafloor had risen to about 100 feet below the surface in its immediate vicinity..

Just received this from Dr. Patty Doyle...first I've heard of it. Might be a big story here. She's
very sharp and doesn't miss much...ever.

.....

I just went to my ROV watching page and notice that BP has moved in a drilling rig, the West Sirius. Can you ask one of your Gulf of Mexico oil researchers why BP would need a rig. drilling rig at 384' with drilling depth of 37,500' as this does seem a bit odd to me. Are they drilling another well to meet the Deepwater Horizon well? Are they doing some sort of well kill on another leaking well? Do we have another leak that the public is not being told about?

Check out the West Sirius:
www.rigzone.com...

Right now they seem to be "waiting" for a go ahead on whatever project they intend to do.

The beauty of this group is we haven't had any hysteria. We have legitimate questions that someone needs to answer. BP said they would come back to this site. Given the amt of oil, & potential $$ still there, of course they are going to come back to it.

I just read a bit about the question of this new rig, West Sirius, posted by BK Lim. I don't find this surprising, if it's to drill an whole new well or tap back into the DH site. This is what BP does.

Kno22, But the problem is KEEPING SILENT about what they do. There are regulations and permits. The govt needs to inform.

Hi everyone....I have been really sick the past couple of days, however, I have footage of them doing work with a suction pile. A suction pile has to do with portable OIL PRODUCTION I believe. They are definitely doing something, because now IronHorse is involved (another BP rig, which, BTW tipped over once) If you go to BP's site, you will see all the feeds are gone except the DD's, Ironhorse, and Sirius. I will try to get the footage up tomorrow. I have footage of them working with the suction pile, with oil and black oil blobs to boot. Not saying I know for sure what's going on, because I don't.......but something is going on.

Suction piles are also used to anchor movable platforms. They have been working with these for 2 days now.... They are removing the suction piles now, so they must be about to insatll something....here's something I found about suction piles...

No, it's not a weapon LOL! This kind of "Popped on" the screen the other night.....the Sirius feed has been totally blank, but someone caught this when it came on for a very short time (it was turned off abruptly....I don't think they meant for this to be seen). It look to me like they are measuring depth?

I agree compeletly. The fact that BP isn't really keeping people informed is part of the problem. We watch all those feel good commercials about how responsible BP is, knowing it's just glossing over the whole situation. The ProjectGulfImpact.com folks are reporting the ways BP is denying claims, or reducing claims for what ever reason BP wants, as well as health issues involving people who live & work in the region. That our government allows this to continue is a disgrace.

I've said it before & will say it again...BP should not be allowed to use a can opener without supervision. Well informed civilian supervision.

Kat, we know you aren't making light of the situation. If we can't take a step back a moment & chuckle we are in a whole lot more trouble then we all know.

Yes - just checked number of vessels still there - plenty activities still on going. Noticed now that discoverer enterprise and devl driller 3 (together) and - 5 miles from devl driller 2. Wonder what is up now.

Thanks Skat. By the way one of the forum members ETH reminded me that Discoverer Enterprise was at the site from mid Oct onwards. The DE had dual drilling capability. So whatever they were planning to do, was already planned in mid Sept.

BP don't even follow their own safety policies. See BP openly flouting their own HSE procedures
