We are not alone. The name is Gliese 581g, a planet recently declared to be not only habitable, but one hundred per cent certain to host life.

.......are naive in the extreme.
“Personally, given the ubiquity and propensity of life to flourish wherever it can, I would say, my own personal feeling is that the chances of life on this planet are 100 percent,” said discoverer and astronomer Steven Vogt during a press briefing yesterday. “I have almost no doubt about it.”

LOL........So he's declared his "opinion" is that there is a 100% chance of life.............then goes on to say that he is "almost certain " of it.
No offence but he contradicted himself, "almost certain" is by no means 100%

It's also amusing to be almost certain that life exists on a planet they aren't sure is even there...
Now, the latest discovery: an alien communications signal is being sent from this very same location in space. Scientists are hardly surprised...

How far is this planet and how long would it take for a signal to get here?
Cause if it was detected as of recently it must have been sent quite a long time ago.

True. If it was in another solar system it was likely sent a long time ago. But, because they were light signals, it wouldn't take such a long time.
