If you live in Maryland, DC, or Virginia i know you are familiar with the large number of stink bugs invading people's home. If not then just know that some people have found thousands in their house many times in attics and other places people don't often go. Not that seem scared of people. if you dont know what a stink bug is then here is the wikipedia link:
Wikipedia Stink bugs

if squished or scared they emit a foul smelling odor but the ones that are in my home emit no such odor. and i have tried. i wanted to show my fiancée that they do stink but i have squished a lot and none stink. i dont think this is really a stink bug infestation.

Meh I dont bother with them.. They have as much right to be alive as I do.. I live in PA and they have been having this on the news... I dont see what the big deal is.. They are going to die supposedly when winter hits so hell let them have a bit of fun...

Yes I do not kill bugs because they are gross ugly and ikky I honestly believe they should be around as much as we should or they wouldnt be here in the 1st place..((actually I dont believe the latter of this statement.. cause we have lost our ways and we shouldnt be around.. if its anyone who should be squished it should be us..))

i have never seen these stink bugs or came across any, i'm in the uk and i dont think we get them here.

But my son-in-law grew up in Australia and he says they are rife there too. He says the smell is indescribably bad if you step on them or alarm them.

He's never come across a stink bug that doesn't stink tho.

I found it does take quit a bit to make them produce the stink. But they do in VA. They are also attracted to the smell, the dead ones need to be swept up an disposed of. This year is much, much worse then last year. I am scared to see what happens next year. Also the destroy gardens. Lost most of my tomatoes. I hate them.

Can I just ask what is the conspiracy in your post? I just wondered why you posted in this forum

Your link is to stinkbugs the family. Here is a specific link -

en.wikipedia.org...

In the US, the brown marmorated stink bug feeds, beginning in late May or early June, on a wide range of fruits, vegetables, and other host plants including peaches, apples, green beans, soybeans, cherry, raspberries, and pears.

Better add tomatoes to that list.
It also mentions sweet corn in the article

Some species of parasitic wasp feed on these guys. Nature will catch up and reproduce more of them to take advantage of the new food source.
Apart from that, if they are attracted by the stink of other bugs then it seems it should be easy to build traps for them. yes?

The vacuum cleaner method worked well for me. Just suck em up and toss the bag (taped shut of course).
Note: Normally I do not kill insects, but when they infest my home - it's war!

sorry still not sure how to classify my posts well yet.. .i dont post enough i guess anyway a mod moved it to fragile earth thanks who ever did that.

I usually put them outside as my wife and daughter not like them inside but they wanted to know why we call them stink bugs (the never saw them till this summer) and i tried to show them.. i dont want to torture them so i guess i wont be able to show them with this species.

they do harm crops as they eat all types of plants as well as caterpillars.

one interesting note i saw a spider and stink bug fighting it out... i think the stink bug flew into the spiders web and the spider tried to kill it and eat it.. they were too heavy and fell to the ground right in front of me.. very coincidental and an interesting find... if i have film for my camera it would have made an awesome photograph

believe me they most certainly DO STINK! i live in Finksburg MD which is a hop skip and a jump to Baltimore. i have been killing these dam things for years now. what i have found is that at a young age they dont stink. i also found that some people seem to not be able to smell it (lucky B@$T@RDS). the smell they make smells like rotten potatoes. some smell so bad that you can walk into a room they stink in, walk out and still smell it in your nose for hours. my advice is to not crush them because it brings more. you want to use orange cleaner, like orange degreaser. it suffocates them in minuets and blocks the stink glands so they cant spray for their friends. good luck to every one who has to deal with this little gift from china.

you might want to stop just putting them outside. they dont die off i the winter they just slow down and stay dormant. they multiply very fast and not killing them just promotes more and more. so by putting them outside you are just giving your self some time till 2 for every 1 you put outside to come inside. my father in law comes over on the weekends and refuses to kill them and puts them out side. then he leaves and im dealing with around at least 20 every day. when i kill them with the orange cleaner they seem to get less numerous and i have to kill them less. so if i didnt kill them i would have to deal with around 30-40 everyday. believe me, you do want to kill them. they will over take your house and your yard and yes THEY DO BITE and it hurts. if you want to show your family why they are called stink bugs do this.

1:take a stink bug and put it in the kitchen sink with a strainer in the drain so he does not get washed down.
2: then turn on the hot water so it hits the stink bug but does not submerge him.
this should make him stink cuz it does every time one gets in the sink when im doing dishes.

i hope u take my advice. if not then good wishes to you an your family.

not that i agree or disagree with your "infestation" and this is indecent exposure... but it is very off topic.
