No offense taken... I was writing a piece 'off the top of my head' and that's what came out.

Visions of God smiting NYC and killing everybody in it. Reminded me of the Cathar slaughters sanctioned by the Holy Roman Church (possibly ) This IS, after all, the Writing forum.

Anyways... trained soldiers during the Crusades? Yes, maybe as brass, but certainly not the masses gathered as they went from town to town on their way to Jerusalem.

But, I digress.

You just felt like writing that stuff and then addressing it to the Christians? That writing is at least more coherent than anything in the Bible, and yet equally as absurd too.

While t'other seems far away.

Mine fills up my heart.
T'other resides up above
Mine represents everything
and t'other is a dove(?)

My God doesn't play dice.
It won't deem to judge or kill.
T'other God doesn't play nice.
Bending everyone to His will.

My God isn't human.
It's all living things-
From parsnips to people
and all things between.

My God is the universe.
Its omnimind is pure.
And you won't need your purse.
To buy a quick cure.

My God doesn't take umbrage
with anyone's thought
and won't take to outrage
over some ill-cast lot.

Our Gods only agree on one true thing.
That prayer works wonders to all who do.
So, I pray to my God
just as you do too.

Nope. My God doesn't need books or churches. My God IS books, churches, parnips and people too.

Don't think I could have put things more succintly than in the poem I created for this thread. I did it, and the 'crusades' post' as a result of what went on in my own mind after reading your OP. Hope you don't mind me penning reactions.

I think it's a good spot too. Applause-worthy even.

Quite often, when something spurs my creativity here, I enjoy writing responses in a similar vein. That's what I've been doing here so far.

Speaking of which, I wrote something a long time ago that might apply. I don't much believe in Heaven or Hell. Here's my take on how it all goes down:

Murmuring whispers
tugging me through,
my bodiless radiance
flashing gold hue
Loves' embrace true.

Ascending above
mortality's stain,
stinking corpse lying
below shall remain
discarding completely
an earthly domain
of discord and madness
and pitiless pain.

Minds' incarnate
freedom found
re-membered
for getting
knowing profound
the leavings
the findings

and the next go-around.
