SAN JOSE MINE, Chile – Fresh air and freedom were just hours away Tuesday for the first of 33 miners trapped a half-mile underground for 69 days, men whose endurance and unity captivated the world as the Chilean government meticulously prepared their rescue. No one in the history of mining has been trapped so long and survived.

I think its great, and about time. But I hate how the news was saying how the trapped miners were watching their weight so that they could fit in the escape capsule. Do they mean starving? Sometimes the news anchors are just ridiculous.

I hope it all goes safely for them.

Seems to be some sort of problem with the shackle that connects the capsule to the cable.

Why did they take it off. It was on yesterday when they tested it. Now they are having bother getting it back on.

How is this a conspiracy? Did the Illuminati/US Government/KFC trifecta explode the towers- I mean the mines- with explosives in order to set off a war in Iran?

Those bangs and noises are scary. Why don't they attach that pulley to the other side as well. If the bangs are the cylinder banging inside the pipes it sounds like a pretty rough ride.

About time they've gotten them out of there.

I don't think I'd ever be a miner, not after what they've been through.
You never know when danger can strike being in that situation.

They are not out yet. I think they pulled the thing back up to make adjustments and check for damage.

they are doing mechanical work to the canister the men will be lifted in. They are testing it to make sure it was running exactly as it should be. I dont blame them for testing this much lol

I am really excited by this. I pray it goes quickly and smoothly.

I have been anticipating seeing the first one for some time. Of course, this anticipation goes for seeing the last out as well.

I am so happy the end of this experience for them grows near.

Please tell me that MTV has already inked a deal to create a Jersey Shore style reality show with these guys, because THAT is television gold, my friends. Television gold.
